Brian's Story
Life
Married to Kathy (McGuire) since 1993.
Children: Andrew (born April 1999)and Sarah (born May 2002).
Co-owner of Phares Financial Services, an insurance, employee benefit and retirement planning firm in North Platte, NE, that has been here since 1947. I am the 3rd generation owning the firm, started by my grandfather.
Past State President for NAIFA-NE, my professional association. Currently on varioius state Boards.
Active on local boards and at the Bethel Evangelical Free Church in North Platte.
Most free time I spend with my family, NPHS Speech team (volunteer coach), and helping the Boy Scouts, where I am an Asst. Scoutmaster and Advancement Chair for our Troop.

College
Graduated from Kearney State College (now UNK) in 1988.
Started at Sioux Falls College in So. Dakota, transferred to UNL for sophomore year, then to Kearney St. for junior and senior years. (Wanted real professors, not grad. assistants teaching junior and senior level classes like at UNL). Graduated with Honors with BS degree in Bus. Admin., minor in Economics, and emphasis in Finance. I was looking to graduate from the day I arrived and should have enjoyed the time in college more and done more of the "college things" like Homecoming week, going to more sporting events, hanging out with friends more, etc. I worked, studied, spent some time at the fraternity, and got involved with various groups and organizations and did not spend time enjoying being in college.
