Bruce's Story
I have done a few things... and I have no idea where to begin. I humbly hope that the reader will find what follows informative and not too boring. I assure you that what follows is true and not bolstered in any way.
Being forced into retirement, I spend most of my time on various social networks or playing some of the slightly addictive Android games that are out there. Currently, I have been trying to figure out what year class(es) I was in at Troy High.
Please understand that I am only ttring to explain my confusion or what causes it; with what follows.
Midway through 6th grade, my parents purchased the frat house on Jacob and 8th. They left many things there - including school books; which I totally devoured! Hopefully that boring little tidbit will explain why things went as they did for me.
Now, I am pretty certain I initially started THS in '68.
All I do remember is spending more time at RPI's Union Hall instead of in classes. The library there, naturally, offered a variety of college level workbooks. Mind you now that I liked the teachers - most of the classes and liked (and in some cases, quietly, loved and adored in silence) my classmates. o get into college up in Auburn. I had to start in Liberal Arts (tech courses). I imagine that they had to make sure I could hang at a college level. At that time I was only 16 and still in 10th. Sadly it didn't last long - I once more got bored doing the school work I already had learned. So, back to Troy High for me!
I know I never actually fit into 0any particular niche and I was cool with that. I did make friends (or was befriended) by many people from various groups.
Between 1972 and 1989, I worked all types of jobs; from carwash attendant to R.EM. or the manager of a multi-faceted (but small business). Of course there were the various positions in food and janitorial services.
To me the most important thing I achieved was becoming the very proud father of some very awesome children.
In 1989, I and two friends decided to startup a business together. We all decided it would be best to avoid the problems and hassles many of our peers had gone through (including the IRS).
So off to college for me once more.
Anyway, I finally did acquire an AOS in Accounting at HVCC in 1991.
Sadly, one of my friends (positively the best friend anyone could have) passed away; and thus so did the business venture.
