Bruce's Story

Life Hello, and thanks for stopping by. Here is what I have been up to: During college years at SDSU (Bachelor's '72, Master's '74), I spent the summer months working for invesment banking firms in Boston. New England began to grow on me. I spent the summer of '74 touring Scotland, and settled on Cape Cod in the fall....established an art studio as an avocation, and worked at a bank in order to avoid becoming a starving artist. Have been a Cape Cod banker for over thirty years, managing branch, department, and division levels. Presently, I am a lender for Cape Cod Cooperative Bank, one of the last of the old neighborhood banking institutions. My wife is Kimberly (Powell), a Rhode Islander, graduate of Providence College, and also a banker. We were engaged in Paris on the anniversary of our first date, and married one year later in Bermuda. Our home is situated in Centerville Village, one mile from the beach, and an easy two-mile commute to the office. A child from previous marriage, Elizabeth Cameron Williams, was born here in 1982. She is a registered nurse, and was married in May of 2006. She has a loving soul, a great sense of humor, is a hard worker, and has always been a good girl to her dad...I think you would like her. One of the things about New England that appeals to me is its antiquity relative to SoCal. For example, a home ...Expand for more
I owned here was constructed in 1690....it was a wonderful old house overlooking the water, and if you have ever seen the movie "The Money Pit", you get the idea. My special interests over the years: art, travel, genealogical and historical research, recreational reading, playing and teaching the Scottish bagpipes (the music of which Samuel Johnson described as "an ill wind that blows nobody any good"). I have served on the boards of civic and charitable organizations, taught classes for the New England College of Finance, been a commentator on a weekly live radio program (2002-2006). I gave up surfing eight years ago: one day I was sitting on my ten-foot single fin cruiser, and noticed that everyone else in the water was about fourteen years old, riding little pointed five-foot boards. I said to myself "You old dog, what are you still trying to prove?" So, at the age of fifty years, I hung up my surfboard for good. No doubt the foregoing is more information than anyone cares to learn. Classmates from the San Miguel School are probably thinking "Bruce's life thus far appears to have been spent blithely squandering an expensive preparatory education." Be that as it may, life is good, and I am luckier than I deserve. Please be in touch with your news, as there are no friends like old friends. My cell: (508) 364-2405. Best wishes...Bruce.
