Clifton's Story

Life After graduating from Byrd in '78, I attended Louisiana College in Pineville, then transferred to East Texas Baptist university, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Music / Voice Performance. I married my high school sweetheart, Kim Cathey, in December of 1981. We have been blessed with four awesome children. Never a dull moment in the Shoumaker household. After serving as Minister of Music and Youth for a number of years, we relocated to Baton Rouge, and I began work on a Masters of Music at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, graduating in 1994. transferred to New Orleans Seminary to complete my Doctorate in Worship Studies - plan to graduate in '09. I have worked as Minister of Music in Baptist Churches since 1982. I have served in my present position as Minister of Music at Jefferson Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA for the past 15 years. My wife, Kim Cathey, is the love of my life and we work as a team in the music ministry at our church. All of our children are actively involved in the music program.
