Candice's Story

I had my high school yearbook stolen from a storage locker when I was in graduate school along with a bunch of other treasures. I try to connect names with faces here and I am surprised that even though I have not been to a reunion I do remember some faces and names. I dates Scott Zell all through high school and into nursing school and then I broke up with him, my desire to see more of what there was in the way of relationships in the world, Scott was my first boyfriend. I came to find out Scott was among the best. I became an RN and then a nurse anesthetist, I retired in 2000. I am finally married to a great partner and best friend, Ken, it took me a few tries. Between us we have four children Ken's boys graduated from University of Florida (gators) as engineers and they both work for Proctor and Gamble, (free toilet paper). I am kidding do you know how many things P&G make? My daughter Sarah is a missionary and my son Matthew, a late starter, is living with us as he goes to college. I moved from Pittsburgh in 1988 to Florida and after the kids all graduated Ken and I moved to Tennessee and built a house on Watts Barr Lake near a little town of 5000. I joke about being 25 minutes from milk. I enjoy my own company and my passion for the time being is gardening. We have 1.75 acres so I have many places to plant and design different settings. I make mistakes so I am moving plants all the time. We were the first in this community, Grande Vista Bay, but ultimately there will be 575 families. Presently our nearest neighbor is 3 miles away. I would rather be happy than right. You probably remember me, if you do, as needing to be right. This is the best life lesson I have mastered. I am Christian and happy that Jesus is my Lord and Savior, I sure would hate to have to work my way to nirvana or perfection if that is possible. I think all the spokes of the wheel of the various religions eventually lead to the same place some just are so much more difficult and disciplined. Jesus is such a gentle and loving way I am glad I finally got it. I have a small Papillon dog named Pippin, we have been Lord of the Ring fans for many years actu...Expand for more
ally since reading the books. Our beloved but pasted Papillons are Frodo and Rosie. Papillons are perfect house dogs, they don't know they are little dogs and so they don't have all those nasty little dog habits. They are actually dwarf spaniels hence the big dog attitude We always have a cat and our present cat is Harley a Birman and of all the breeds we have had this is the best and will be our future cats as well. As you can tell we are not the adopting a pet type. We have been there and done it without success so now we get pets whose personalities are predictable and who have been home raised, what a difference. My worse pet mistake was a wonderful dog, a border collie, Katie. She needed a farm and I had 1/5 acre in a dense neighborhood. What a smart and wonderful dog but not suited to an indoor companion life. She wanted to herd and would try to herd the neighbors. We had to find her a farm and left her happily herding goats. It was with this mistake we decided to choose breeds suited to our lifestyle. Our home is beautiful and it is such a terrific thing to be able to design and build a home exactly as you want it. Too bad I had to compromise with my husband or it would be exactly as I like, but there are two of us. Before I met and married Ken I had built a home in Safety Harbor, Fl and it was exactly mine. My house is important as I hang out here all the time. I rarely leave except when I have to. Matthew does all the grocery shopping and cooking for the most part so I really only have to leave when we are going out for recreation. I love to fly fish, we always plan our vacations around fly fishing. This year we are revisiting Sedona, AZ one of the top 5 fly fishing sites and probably one of the most beautiful places. There are suppose to be several energy vortex's there whatever that means and it is the site of many western movies as well as car advertisements, you know where the car is on top of a huge reddish pediment. There are great restaurants and abundant art studios. Feel free to contact me I would enjoy reconnecting with anyone who knew me in high school. Sincerely, Candy but I am Candice now as an adult.
