Carl's Story
I was born in Freeport, NY and grew up in Massapequa, NY. Some time during the early school years, the Social Studies focus was on the United States. As we moved west across the country, I was quickened by the "Desert Southwest." I didn't care what state it was, I determined at that moment, I would live my life out in Arizona. After graduating Southhold HS, my ticket out of New York was joining the U.S. Marine Corps. I traveled with them from 1970 until September 1976 finally being stationed at MCAS, Yuma, AZ. I have not regretted once moving to Arizona except I moved two years later than I could have.
I completed my obligation to the USMC in August 1978; by December that year, I married my darling sweetheart, Connie. (As I write this, in a few days - Dec 10, we will celebrate 42 years of mar...Expand for more
riage.) We had five Yuman beings (5 sons) before moving to Kingman, AZ in May, 1988. Since then, by many standards, we have done a lot.
As the years have passed, only in the past few, have we done more in that time than the previous decades.
In May of 2007, as we began our day, I did some channel surfing and came upon this preacher talking about the Grace of Jesus. By this time, my wife and I have been Christians since the early 1970's although, struggling. We began to learn about Grace, who He is and so on, that our Christianity was revived. Since then, we have completed three short term missions trips to Kenya and Uganda and we have gone back to school: I have completed two masters degrees and Connie is about to complete her bachelor's degree. I am about to take on a PhD program in History.
