Carl's Story

Life Left Shelton High School in my senior year and was employed by The Eversharp Shick Razor Company for three years. Joined the United States Air Force in 1961 where I was trained as a Medical Corpsman. After a year of school in Texas and Alabama I served three years in Germany at the USAF Hospital in Wiesbaden where I started as a Medical Administrator then moved to War Planning and Security Operations. During my years in Germany I completed most of my college credits through the European Campus of the University of Maryland. I returned to the USA in May 1965 and moved to California where I completed my college education and began work as a computer engineer with the Burroughs Corporation in Los Angeles. In 1970 I moved to Orange County, California (30 miles south of Los Angeles) and met my "Partner", Gary Conway. We quit our jobs and started our own real estate business. Over the years we started a catering truck business, owned and operated a Gulf Oil Service Station, restored an already recognized 1890's Victorian home to it's former glory.....opening it to public tours and operating it as "The Morey Mansion Bed and Breakfast Inn." Later we built and operated a large upscale experimantal laundromat that was a great success. But our biggest love was in real estate. We had a lot of fun restoring homes including several large estates that were historically significant. We received a lot of press surrounding them and enjoyed many famous overnight guests at our "Be...Expand for more
d & Breakfast" such as Art & Ruth Linkletter, Michael J. Fox, Victor Borge, and many others including our own Republican Governor of California (at the time) George Deukmejian. After Gary passed away in 1991 I decided to travel more. I already had my 40' motorhome waiting for me in Florida but I wanted to experience the water so in 1995 I bought a 59 foot motor yacht and spent three years traveling/living along the California/Mexican coast. In 1998 I sold the yacht and moved full time to Fort Lauderdale. Seven years later in 2005, when I felt the market had hit it's high, I sold my real estate in Florida and moved to Lake Stevens, Washington where I believed the real estate market would be more sound. Finally in 2009 I rented my Washington home and returned to Southern California where I bought my current home. Today I live in the Palm Springs/Cathedral City area where I can enjoy my friends and a relaxed routine. I have no further moves planned...LOL! Life is good and I am so please to see the names of many people I remember from my school days...here on Classmates. When I was young the older folks always said that life was short. They sure knew what they were talking about. I plan to have my gravestone engraved with the quote, "That was Quick!" LOL! CARL College Three years at the University of Maryland Overseas Campus in Wiesbaden, Germany. Filled in required courses at Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa, California and completed at California State University.
