Carla's Story
Life
My husband, our daughter Anna (born in 2000) and I moved to Stephens County, Texas, in 2002. In August 2007, after serving as the General Manager of the Breckenridge American for almost a year, I became the Special Projects Editor for Graham Newspapers Inc., a group of newspapers in north-central Texas that includes the Graham Leader, Breckenridge American and newspapers in Olney, Jacksboro and Possum Kingdom Lake area. en we decided to move to a smaller town.
Back in our school days, my family moved a lot (my dad was a retail store manager), so I went to elementary school in Mesquite, Texas, Muskogee, Okla., and Monroe, La. I started the 7th grade in Monroe, and then
we moved to Plainview, Texas, where we stayed until I was in the 9th grade. Then, we moved to Winnsboro, La., for one year. Then, it was back to Plainview where I
graduated. Over the years, I've worked for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Texas Tech University, written freelance articles and owned a magazine.
