Carmen's Story
Life
I moved to San Diego March 22, 2008. It was time for a change and I decided to move closer to my brother Pedro and his family. This past summer I took a riding class with Harley Davidson and actually graduated second in my class out of 9 other men...not too bad. My mother isn't too thrilled with it but I LOVE riding.
Both of my boys are grown and on their own now. My oldest Brandon (22 yrs old) is still in the army and stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. He returned last summer from a tour in Iraq and will be returning to the Middle East sometime in the fall. My youngest son Coty (20 yrs old) decided to follow in his brother path and joined the army as well. He is stationed at Ft. Richardson, Alaska and was recently deployed to Afghanistan in Feb and will be gone for a year. Both of my boys are married and Coty shared with me right before he left that I will be a grandma in the fall....can you believe that?! My...Expand for more
heart and thoughts are always with my boys no matter where they are.
Not long after moving here I met a WONDERFUL man, Steve. In September we decided at the last minute to run off to Vegas and we got married. Oh what a thrill...we had a blast. Life was wonderful and then on Jan 18th Steve suffered a major stroke, no warning and he had none of the conditions or history that would have made him a stroke candidate. We have worked very very hard with his recovery and each day he makes major strides forward....the doctors and therapist all state that he is a walking miracle. We still have a ways to go but there are days that I too forget that he had a stroke because he is doing so well. He is an adventurer like me and we have so many more adventures ahead of us. Love this man with all my heart.
Hope this finds my classmates well. If you're ever in the San Diego area, let me know, would love to visit with you.
