Carol Ann's Story

Life Has it really been more than 30 years?? Funny, I don't FEEL 30 years older. Well, a lot has happened over that time. As many of you know, I was married before leaving school (1969). My son was born a year and half later. My husband died in 1996. Since then, I have worked for NYS in Rensselaer. Presently I'm a secretary to an Associate Commissioner. I used to write articles on mythological archetypes for a European quarterly. I am an ongoing student of Kabbalah and astrology. Two years ago I met Ray. We were married on September 8, 2007. I'd like to reconnect with anyone who might be interested. I'm a lot more fun, and a lot more approachable than I was in high school. Life is too short to be shy and miss out on all those really great experiences. So, say hello. If I see YOUR name up there, I'm going to say hello to you!! I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up. As it turns out, that desire never went away. I've been writing one way or another since leaving high school. Presently, I'm looking to retire and create a new way of earning money by working on my second manuscript. My kids have taught me that no matter how well you think you know them, there are things you are clueless about in their lives. Which teacher would you love to see again? Why? From Washington Irving I'd love to see Miss Dutcher, Miss Buckbee or Mr. Hallfors again. They made the most impact on me. Hindsight is a wonder thing when it comes to looking back at the impact people have made on you after ten and twenty years. That they took time to help me through tough times in my life was incredible considering I wasn not the best of students, nor even the best of youth, but each of these teachers took time to recognize something in me and I appreciate that more than I can say. If I won $100 million...Expand for more
, I'd give half of it help create wells (for fresh water sources) and schools in Africa (outside of South Africa) and I'd spend about a quarter of it helping individuals who could show me the grant I give them would help them create a chance to succeed at something they love doing and making children happy at the holidays. The rest I would use to help my family, who would neither be last nor least. To be truly happy, I'd writing, and I'd be traveling with my husband and my camera. I love long road trips and seeing new places and I have a wonderful husband who shares that interest. There are just more pressing issues at hand presently, like making sure there is a roof over our heads and food for the coming week. Presently I'm 58. When I was 12, I thought people my current age were old and not active any more. I don't feel 58. I feel like I'm 30 inside, but my body just doesn't do what a 30 year old can do. My first cursh was Ricky Gardner. There is still a place tucked away in my heart for him, because the first crush aways leaves something soft inside. I lost track of him along the way. I hope life turned out well for him. My one do-over would be to pursue my dream of going to Columbia University to study journalism, something my mother put an end to when I was in 11th grade. My life would have been so different if I'd have stood up to her. In ten years I hope to be a successful novelist. I'm going to get there by submitting the complete manuscript I have and working on the second manuscript. My oldest friend is my sister, Paula. She lives in North Carolina now. I miss her terribly. Well, my story continues, as life does in all circumstances. My beloved husband has passed away and I am left to follow my dreams alone. He may not have been perfect, but he was perfect for me.
