Carol's Story
Life
Carol Bockelman Laverty, graduate of class of 1967. Graduated from SWOSU in 1971 and with my Masters Degree in 1975. I live on the family ranch near Laverne with Jerald Laverty. Jerald and I have 7 children in a yours, mine, and ours family and have one child-Brendan in college at OSU. We are the proud grandparents of 13 grandchildren. I work for OSU Cooperative Extension Service in Harper County. My folks also live on the family ranch along with my son, Jeremy and his family.
This past year has been fun as I have one daughter married and now expecting our 14th grandchild and I went to New York City in the Fall then on to a conference in Rochester, New York. I love to travel and have been all over the United States with my job. It is hard to think about retiring as Jerald is not a traveler!! Brendan joined the Army reserves and loved Boot Camp so who knows what kind of son he is because i have never heard anyone loving Boot Camp but he has his pilot's license, joined ROTC at OSU and wants to go to Aviator school in the Army. He must be Jerald's son!!! We love all of our kids so much!!! Where has the time gone?
Time continues to go by since my last part of the story. We have that wonderful 14th granddaughter and she is one year old. I am still working and Jerald is about to finish his Cessna 120 airplane that Brendan is hoping to get in the air soon. Brendan is doing his internship at the Alva air...Expand for more
port this semester and will graduate from OSU in December. He is planning on going into active Army hoping to fly helicopters. Our kids all make life interesting as they move into new phases in their lives. I recently attended a conference on the East coast in Portland, Maine and saw a different way of life and lots of beautiful scenery. Our ranch doesn't change much and we enjoy the country life. My folks are still living on the ranch as well as Jeremy Bockelman, my son and his four children. Yes, time is still flying by!!!
Spring is here and lots of activities as the grandkids are doing everything!! Track-School-lots of 4-H activities-plays-music and working that in with work keeps me really busy. Work gets more fun as I get older if my body lets me keep up with everything. I can still walk up the steps at the football stadium so I don't have to miss much. Emery is a precious one year old and getting to see her daily makes life a lot of fun. Rebecca is a spiiting image of her dad-Larry so those of you that knew him can only imagine. Rebecca is 29 and she told me that she couldn't believe that her dad was killed when he was 29 as that seems so young. She was only 3 years old so time makes a difference in all of our lives. We are all very involved in church and Emery walked up to Children's church all by herself last Sunday and she is only one year old. Enjoy your spring and let's all pray for rain.!!!
