Carol's Story

Life I spent 13 years in the U.S. Navy, including 5 years in Naples, Italy, then decided to get out and stay home with my kids. We live in southern Mississippi, close to the Gulf Coast. My husband is retired from the Navy. We live on a small farm, with horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats. I homeschool our children, and counsel new homeschoolers. We have nine children. Margie Mariah Clark, the youngest, turned one year old in August 2007. We also have our first grandaughter, Kayla Rose, who was born in May 2007, our first grandson, Andrew, who was born in May 2009, and three step-grandchildren to love. I finally have exactly what I always wanted, it just took a few years to figure out what I wanted, and how I should live my life in order to get it. Praise the Lord. School Taking typing was the best decision I made in high school. It made my number one choice of job ratings in the Navy a possibility. Mrs. Schearer and Mr. Brown inspired me the most, but unfortunately I was mostly just trying to get finished with school and go on to something else. I am so thankful that for the most part, I stayed out of any serious trouble and made middle of the road grades. I could have made straight A's if I had put any...Expand for more
effort in to it, which would have made my honor roll mother very happy. I was mostly concerned with myself, though, and it shows. I am sorry for many things I did in high school, but overall, it taught me many lessons that I needed later in my life. I now homeschool my own children, all the way through 12th grade, because I learned from my mistakes and want to give them a better start in life. Military I went to boot camp in Orlando, Fl from July -Sep 1982, then to technical school in Pensacola, Fl. In Nov 1982, I transferred to NAS Brunswick, ME. I got out of the Navy in October 1985, after marrying and having my first child. I went back in the Navy in September 1986, and was stationed in Washington, DC, doing tours at the Navy Annex and at the Pentagon. I then transferred to Navy Recruiting District, Albany, NY in April, 1989. I left there in June 1992 and transferred to Naples, Italy. I got out of the Navy in July 1995, but stayed in Italy until Dec 1996, because my husband was stationed there. We transferred to Biloxi, MS in Jan 1997, and my husband retired in Sep 2000. I have stayed home with my kids since July 1995, and love it. I have never regretted getting out of the Navy, even though I loved it.
