Carol's Story
Life
In December 1977, I married and became a step-mother the same day. It was wonderful! From then to Sept.'94 I raised 3 children, one being Phil,my step-son.I worked some small fun jobs, however I primarily traveled with my husband for business, played alot of tennis & we had a happy family until August 1989. The first part of the empty nest syndrome began when Phil left for Houston on a Merit
Scholarship in Engineering.
As for 1997-2007 My mother was very ill and came to PA to live.In and out of nursing homes, she eventually had to go back to NJ, the ocean and smell the sea air and she past away.
My children, Charlotte,17 and Andrew,14 were beginning to decide what to do with their lives... Char chose to go to Brazil with the Rotary Exchange Program for a year and then return home to begin College.
So, Andrew and I joined a Camera Club while she was gone, hoping he will find direction. I quit so that he could do it alone and get all
the accolades and so he did!He majored in Bio-Medical Photography
and his second degree is in Advertising and Fine Arts at Rochester
Institute of Technology.
With Char back in the states after my wonderful visit to Brazil. She ends up at Penn State Univers...Expand for more
ity. Fayette Campus, and University
Park with a degree in Business Administration and minor in English.
Also,being fluent in Portuguese.
So, off she goes to Washington,DC working for SRA a Homeland Security Consulting Co. with a contract at Small Business Adm. on Capitol Hill.
Andrew is working for The New York Times in NYC printing Archival
Negatives. He loves it.
As you can see I am a very Happy and Proud Mom. Now that everyone is settled, almost.
It is time to find out what I want to do for the rest of my life. I sit on a # of boards that are extremely satisfying, I teach an Algorythm
Wellness Program for consumers leaving the hospital. Managed care health is progressive in our county, so I sit on the Value Behavorial
Health Board.I am an Advocate for issues relating to the National
Alliance for the Mentally Ill. And I love to travel ... I look forward to any opportunity to go anywhere... and now maybe even move.
