Carol Jean's Story

Life Live on the water, not far from the Chesapeake Bay. Married, two grown kids own their own (no grandkids as yet). Selling my digital photos locally and write poetry as well as kayaking for enjoyment peace and quiet. Love my adopted dog China, 7 yr. old yellow lab mix; my shadow. Am active in the local community; lead walks and monitor two local Natural Area Preserves. Life is good. Would like to meet up with special friends from the past: Linda Zak from Ayer HS, Sharon Joyner Paula Heinzman Long, and friends of Harold King from Aberdeen HS, Linda and Olivia Clark from Eastern HS (yes I attended 3 high schools in 3 years; not fun, but met many wonderful people). Carol Jean Gooding Hammer School Three schools in three years makes for a strange high school time, but I was fortunate to have met many lovely people. Ayer H.S.: Teen Town was the best, and my first romances with Bruce and Harold (I'm sorry we lost him in the war, and I understand he has a daughter; he was a true gentleman and very wonderful human being AND had a great sense of humor!) Col. Byers somehow got me into math (go figure). Eastern H.S.: All girls, some of whom I knew from elementary school. Many great teachers there, two of which my mother had when she attended. Kennedy killed that year and my grandmother lived up the street. Sad times. No dates (yuck!) Ayer H.S.: Nice group of kids, I was an outsider as I was new for my senior year and even started a few weeks late, but I really liked the school, teachers and the mix of kids there (townies and us Army brats). Only one date (another dry year!) No prom (boo hoo), but I did go to some football games and played basketball and softball; went to a couple of play...Expand for more
s and thought we had some fantastic actors within the school. Wish I had been there longer to have been able to "fit in". U of Md: One year, met 3 great friends I keep up with today who are dear to me. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Math major bites the dust! What the heck was Vector Analysis anyway? Workplace When Nixon was President (one reason I wanted to leave the country back then), in 1971, I spent a year in England on my own and worked for a small business called the American Book Service which imported U.S. publications for European destinations. In retrospect, we ordered many of the publications from the USGPO and NTIS; many were sent to the University of Mozul in Iraq. Who knew? The women with whom I worked continue to be great friends. I Married in 1974 and was fortunate to stay home for 6 years while I raised my two great kids who are now 24 and 27. I worked part-time for airlines (PI, US and UA) until my oldest was 17 and youngest 13. We traveled to some wonderful destinations in those years and my kids were spoiled with first class travel at their fingertips. Full-time jobs were just that, jobs, not something I was thrilled with. I am finally not working for someone else, but planning a business on my own. My husband is closing his office in Herndon, VA and moving to the river with me to work on a less hectic basis. We look forward to enjoying life at a more leisurly pace and yet continue to do work that we enjoy. I will continue my digital photography. I have won several awards locally in the past few years with my photos, and there are so many beautiful things here to take photos of. We are truly blessed to be here and have such wonderful neighbors and friends.
