Carolyn's Story
Life
I moved from California to Arkansas, then back again before finally landing in Texas. We lived in Waxahachie for a while with my aunt and uncle, on my step-dad's side of the family. My parents rented a place near town, before we moved over by Lake Waxahachie. I had a horse named Cowboy, and a dog named Rex. Rex was actually my step-brothers dog, but the dog took to me for some reason. Later on we found a cute little house to rent between Waxahachie and Midlothian. We sold Cowboy for another horse named Baby Doe, her registered name was Freckles O'Glo. At least that's how I think it was spelled, I only saw the papers once. Rex passed away, and we got Pudge. We eventually had a small pack of dogs, since I couldn't say no to the stray dogs. After I graduated, I got married and moved to Dallas. I currently live in Mesquite with my husband and 3yr old son, we have a female choc. lab named Sweety. I also spend my spare time on the computer trying to do some genealogy work for my family, not easy when your adopted. Yes, I did find out that I was adopted. That's okay, nothing changed except another loving family to stay in communication with. My husband and I are also Amateur Radio Operaters(HAMS). Occasionally we go out to chas...Expand for more
e the storms, but not much since our son was born. I don't know how many of you knew my family, but my brother Jimmy "J.D."passed away May31,2006. His obituary is in the Waxahachie Daily Light for June 2.
School
I don't remember much from California. When I was in Arkansas I remember enjoying school and friends. After we moved from Arkansas back to California, my parents divorced. My mom and I went with my step-dad to Texas, where I knew I belonged. I always struggled in school after we moved back to California, it stuck with me into high school. I did alot better in high school though. I took dance class for as long as I could, until my back got the better of me. I was a member of Midlothian FFA all 4 years. Some say my last year I wasn't but I know I payed my dues. I think high school was the best years I had in school, until my senior year. Most of my friends graduated, or dropped out. Prom was a small mess, at least it wasn't a disaster. Graduation was the best part of my senior year.
Workplace
I worked at the Best Western Gingerbread Inn in Waxahachie,Texas. I was there when it changed the name from Comfort Inn to Best Western Gingerbread Inn. My job was to tend to the breakfast bar, and make sure nothing ran out.
