carolyn's Story
I started working for S.W..Bell in Sept. of 57 and worked as an operator till 1960 when I took baby leave had a precious baby boy, Larry, and in 66 I took another baby leave, another precious boy, Marc. I continued working and transferring to different jobs within the company, and finally I had the perfect job after 25 years, but I was on the bottom of the list and was loaned out to different locations ,even Houston after hurricane Alicaia, i finally was top seniority. I was active in PIONEERS, and CWA I was an officer in both organizations. I retired June of 1998, because my job was sent to Little Rock, Ark. and I didn't want to move, and be a week-end wife and grand-mother to my oldest grand-daugter who was living with us at the time.. So for the first time in my adult life I was a domestic goddess. It was a blessing in disguse as my 2nd husband was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. I was his sole care-giver as he was from Brooklyn, N..Y. He passed away 19 months later, but we had a good life, he taught me to bowl and bowled in SWBell league. He taught me to fish..... we bought a pontoon boat and fished almost everyday. He had such ...Expand for more
a good sense of humour, he was wonderful to my and grandkids. God has been so good to me I"ve been BLESSED! I remarried about 4 years later HUGE mistake, we divorced 10 years later, I got very ill, and my son and daughter n law had me sell my house and put my things in storage, and now I"m living with them and the 6 children the adopted after thier youngest daughter graduated from high schoold, so now I have 10 grand children ages 36 to 8 and and 1 greatgrandaughter, I'm well now with a pacemaker... and if living with all these young children and 2 dogs and a cat and two critters I call them but they really are ferrets. (I didn't have any pets) Guess I can't really say that anymore. Long story short if I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of mysellf. I lived in OKC all my life, except for the first 3 years off my married life with husband #3 and we lived almost in Texas by the Red River at a place called Falconhead. I loved the people there
and that was the best part of that marriage, oops didn't mean to say that out loud!!!!. Allis well, I get to visit friends from OKC alot. I hope to hear from ya'll.
