Catherine's Story
Life
At LT I was a member of the Eurythmics. I didn't start college until the majority of my classmates were graduating in 1987.
I meet my husband on a geology fieldtrip to the St. Francios Mountains in Missouri in March 1988. We were married in August of the same year. I graduated from UIC with a B.A. in Teaching of English.
I now teach English mostly to sophomores in rural Utah. We live in the center of the state. The whole county has as many people as LaGrange and we are the second largest county in the state in terms of area. I am also the yearbook adviser.
When I am not teaching or advising, I am spending time with my husband, my daughter (born Dec. 18, 1996), and our three cats. Unfortunately, our female cat died in Jan. 2002, following the deaths of my brother-in-law (11/29/01) and my father-in-law (12/15...Expand for more
/01). Tragedy has been strong this year, with several of my students dying in car crashes.
Update April 2008:
This is my last year as the yearbook adviser. I am thrilled!!!!
I have lost more members of my family with the deaths of our huge male cat Eddie (2/05), my grandmother (8/03), my sister (1/06), and my uncle (10/07). On the other hand we have two weddings: my niece (5/06) and my nephew (2/08). My nephew returned from a tour in Korea and was married at West Point, from whence he graduated.
In the fall I will be entering the University of Utah's Teaching and Learning master's program. I will continue to teach full time, so it will take two years including summers to earn my degree.
I am my daughter's Girl Scout leader and we are bridging up to Cadettes in the fall. She is finishing her fifth year in scouts.
