Cathy's Story

Life Updated March, 2005 It's hard to believe that I've been living in the greater Los Angeles area now for 15 years. This is the fifth state I've lived in (I was also in Washington, Montana, Arizona and of course Illinois). After 14 years of marriage, I divorced Peter Stimes (class of 1973) in 1994. We had three kids together. I never remarried. My kids are Austin, a 20 year old student at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He's currently a theatre major and working lights for a production company. April is almost 18 and a senior. She hopes to attend Northwestern University or the University of Chicago as a college freshman next year. Eric is my youngest and 16 years old and a sophomore in high school. After my youngest graduates from high school, I intend to move back to the midwest. I'm looking at Galena,IL though I don't know how I'd adjust to living in a small town. But moving back to the Chicago area isn't out of the question. I've accomplished a lot in fabric arts and will start teaching classes later this spring. Hopefully I'll turn this into a full-time job that I can take with me anywhere I live. After many years of battling depression complicated with chemical and hormonal imbalances, I think I have finally emerged "normal." That's thanks to all sorts of physical and mental therapies and vitamins and minerals and prayer and patience. Thank God!...it's about time. For the first time in many years, I am once again socialable and eager to get...Expand for more
in touch with old friends. Write, if you will. I'll be happy to respond. CD School Updated 3.23.05 Damn...Like I'm going to admit my biggest crush some 30 years later in the hopes that it will all work out now?!? I know all to well that rumors screw up everything. Well, with exception. At the 25th reunion, I heard rumors that Frank Dresser was dead. That bothered me. I wrote to John Koslowski to find out whether or not it was true. He said, no, Frank had recently repaired his washer. And in December 2004, Frank and I started communicating via e-mail. After several months and several visits, I am please to say that a man I never though about dating in high school, is now my boyfriend. College College was a bust. The information I thought I would learn was quite obviously not taught freshman year. And when my parents divorced that summer, I found that I didn't have enough money to continue. I moved from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington to Missoula, Montana, where my best friend, Sharon Chuba was going to the University of Montana. I lived there for close to a year. I moved back to Illinois in the late winter of 1977. Although I attempted going to art school 3 or 4 times when I was married, there was no positive feedback, and I kept dropping out. After my divorce, I received my degree in graphic design. Admittedably, I'm quite good. But I spend too much time thinking and not enough time producing, so I've never pursued my art of choice.
