Cathy's Story

Life Howdy From Texas! Spouse: Charles Huff (We got married on top of a mountain in Colorado...Too COOL) 3 Kids: David-1985 (Southwestern College Kansas- received college football scholarship and received degree) Brandi- 1991, (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi currently on scholarship for basketball and does track "for fun") Hunter-1996 (Still in High School) 1 Grandson age 2 (David's) Career: Teaching and Coaching in South Texas. Home: About two blocks from the beach. Hobbies: Dancing, Fishing, SCUBA, Chasing after the kids in Sports. Future Plans: Maybe retire and build in Colorado. Then have a condo somewjhere on the coast so we can still "play" in the warm water PAST: High School I wasn't really inspired by most of my teachers. My only high school boyfriend was Paul Flesher - (Class of 04). NO WAY on the whole high school do over! I hated the way most everyone (the "in crowd") made me feel so awful about my height and just made fun of me and made me feel like crap in general!!!! I must admit though it was because of their nastiness that I worked so hard at my sports and did as well as I did. I always figured it was one thing no one could make ugly! Happiest memories- hanging out with Chris Kluth, Jon Collard, Angie and Lonnie Weaver (remember Lonnie Ze Pearl is in Ze Liver!!. Pissing off the band director because I didn't "choose a pre contest concert over BYU track Meet to the point he asked another student to "straiten me out... and then having my buddies "sneak me in" to play whenever there was a sub!) Road trips to Durango and Cortez,(Oh and of course dates with Paul...I will never forget you or A.M. and F.M. LOL). Funniest - Silliest Memories: Spinning Brodies in my car in the high school parking lot at midnight. Worst: Never being seen for what was inside of me by most people and not knowing how to get them to let me fit in. College College is where I started to be more than a tall jock and became a "girl" in people's eyes. I loved it! I went to CU on a full basketball scholarship. Played a little ball, Met lots of awesome people and partied just enough to make it interesting. Saw some KILLER concerts. Had a great time with my boys from Arnett Hall on Pearl Street mall at the Halloween Mall Crawl, Hung out with Chris when he could get away from CO School of Mines. (Man I miss you) Won a finger wrestling contest in Estes Park at the Oktoberfest (LOL) Had a song written for me and performed in at a concert(Too cool). I married a Central High bad boy (Gregg Hill) the summer of my freshmen year of college when I was still 18, mostly because I was head over h...Expand for more
eels in love with the guy and partly because my parents weren't! (LOL!) So there went college for a bit! Gregg and I moved to Texas where I worked at a rock and roll night club as a bar maid at 19, (short shorts, hose, high heels the whole bit... I LOVED IT!!!!) I had my son David at 20, got divorced shortly after his birth(wasn't lack of love... we keep in touch to this day, he just wasn't able to settle down enough to have a wife AND son...so son stayed and hubby moved away and remained a "desperado") Finished school (and my basketball playing career) at the age of 24 back home at Mesa State College. (Thanks Coach Kirkham for taking a chance on an old lady) During that time at Mesa I started down the road of raising my beutiful son David, went back to playing ball, learned to country dance and experienced late night skinny dipping at Lake Powell (awesome is all I can say about that!!!) After graduation I had the opportunity to play ball in Germany on a women's pro team but turned it down to stay stateside with my son.... Further down life's road I met, married, and had two more beautiful and awesomely talent kids with another Colorado boy (Rudy Ridenour). We moved back to Texas after my daughter was born and lived here for about 7 years. I guess we weren't what he felt he needed and we parted ways in 1998. He signed over his rights to my kiddos in about 2003 because he had remarried in 1999 and he and his new wife didn't care to see the kids and decided they didn't want to pay child support. I haven't seen him since. In early 2000 I met and married Charles Huff, a wonderful man who took on my Humpty Dumpty family and put all our pieces back together again. He adopted my two youngest in 2003 and legally became the dad he didn't have to be. Like most families we've had our ups and downs but we stay strong and together through them all. Regrets: NOT A ONE! My past was a time when I became who I am. I discovered who I want to be and definitely who I don't want to be like!! I made some wonderful friends, met some fantastic men, and had the time of my life! Thanks, Chris (RIP), Jon, Erik and the rest of the crazy clarinet section of CHS, Boston, The guys of Arnett Hall, Gregg, Jim, Terry, Lamar and the Coors Light Cowboys, The '82-83 CU Lady Buffs, The 84-86 Ft. Lewis Lady Raiders, The Mesa State Lady Mavs, The 1984,85 Ft. Lewis Football Team (for letting me perfect me spaghetti sauce on you guys LOL), The crew at Rocky's of San Antonio, My Buddies at The Rose in Grand Junction, and the Lake Powell Bunch. You will ALL be a part of my memories and my heart forever!
