Cecile's Story

January 14, 1972, I was married to Larry Moore. He was in the air force and he went to VietNam right before the war was stopped. I went to Delaware to stay with his family, and our daughter was born in December in Delaware. When she was a month old, I moved back to my parents' home in Selma. After Larry came home, we were stationed in England for three years. Our son, David, was born in England in 1975. Just before Craig AFB closed, we moved back there, and Larry left the air force in August of 1977. After trying to find what the next chapter of our lives would be without the Air Force, Larry and I both worked for several different and varied businesses. I mostly worked in the Medical office settings learning every thing from the front desk to medical assisting. In 1980, we were both working for a motel and took a position in Charlotte North Carolina as the managers. What an experience that was! We worked and lived on the premises 24/7 and that got old quickly. We were there for only 11 months. Larry was an air traffic controller in the air force, and when the register opened for new hires through the Federal Jobs, he tested and was hired. We lived in Ashville North Carolina for 3 years and loved it very much! Due to several factors, we were able to transfer home again, and moved to Prattvil...Expand for more
le. We have lived here since 1985, and have really enjoyed it. Larry had a series of multiple mini-strokes at work one day in the control tower, and had to medically retire from the FAA. He is fine, but they just thought the job would be to much for him to continue. My dad and a brother in law died in 1997. My sister, Rosa was killed in a car accident on Easter 1998. Then in 2002, my sister Ida died from several serious health problems. We now are blessed with 7 grand children. In August of 2008, Larry got a call from a former co-worker, and was interviewed to work as an instructor at the Oklahoma City Air traffic Control school. He got the job, and has began working there. We will be living in Oklahoma City for as long as the Lord allows. We still have our house in Prattville, and our daughter and her family will stay in it for us and keep it up. That works out good for all of us! This next move will be an adventure, as we have never been on our own. Someone, either our own kids or "strays" (I mean that in the kindest of ways!)in need of a place to stay for a night, week, month, or so-on. I am sure we will enjoy it very much! It would be nice to see everyone again. Life is not something you can order or change at will, but I have been blessed. I would love to hear some of your stories!

I was young once. To my female friends who have made the trip around the sun a "few" times 😉, most of us are going through the next stage of our lives. We are at that age where we see wrinkles, gray hair, extra pounds. Men
