Chad's Story

Life Through my childhood, changed addresses, schools, and friends on a regular basis. After high schol graduation, I stuck around in Aberdeen for almost a year, taking classes part-time at NSU before deciding on a career in broadcasting. Headed to Brown Institute (now Brown College) in a Minneapolis suburb in the spring of 1998. While at Brown, I started getting more involved in the joy of concert going. Since my junior year in high school, I have been to over 50 concerts in at least a dozen states. I also started working at Old Navy and quickly became a supervisor/manager. I decided to focus on retail as a career since the path to broadcasting could prove to be a long one with lots of moving and very little payoff; and Old Navy kept paying me more and promoting me to keep me around. Around that time I also had a roommate, Tyler Glasco, that got me more into punk music and thankfully Old Navy didn't have any problems with me coloring my hair (pink, orange, green, blue, etc) and getting piercings. It was through concerts, music, and my newfound general lack of shame, that I met my wife. We attended many of the same concerts and began to hang out, which turned to dating, which turned into a marriage in October of 2004. Over the past couple of years, I have settled down more. Most of the jobs I have held have not allowed me to keep up the hair colors, I have to dress somewhat professionally, and I have even taken out all of my piercings. I do still sport a mohawk on occassion though, just to keep it real! The past year has been crazy and had many things happen that I didn't see coming. I got eng...Expand for more
aged, went on a Caribbean Cruise, roadtripped to Omaha and Kanas City, got married, went to Hawaii, and bought a house. Probably not what those who knew me a couple years ago would think I would be doing now. These days, a good concert will still rile me up and get me going; I sometimes miss the road trips that I frequented in my late teens and early twenties; I attend at least 10 Twins games a year; and all the people I knew well during my first couple years in Minneapolis are long gone, but thought fondly of and not forgotten. I guess its part of life to have lots of good people, great friends, and unbelievable experiences. I feel blessed to have those that I have. It still brings a smile to my fact thinking back to times that seemed so normal to me now; whether they were in my days of Aberdeen, my time at Brown, Old Navy, Pac Sun, or even Musicland; that could probably make a good book (or bad one depending on how you looked at it). I sometimes tell stories that I don't think are exaggerated one bit to my wifes sisters (19 college going) and it just seems so damn crazy. I miss those times, but I still have the memories. So just in case anyone ever reads this; thanks to: Charlie Younce, Jason Myrmoe, BJ Bell, Brandon Flack, Corey Brandon, Ray Feist, Josh Stiegler, Jerry Ferrante, James 'Eli' Pete (the man with three first names), Pat Woods, Michelle Stromme, Megan Doll, Sara Loftus, Jordan Martin, Erin Foley, and especially Dave VanderHeyden, Jeff Vig, Tyler Glasco, and Eric Malsam for being there through those experiences; not matter how crazy they might have seemed at the time, or when we sobered up!
