Chareese's Story

Life My life is great. I can't complain. I have a great husband, a baby girl and another baby on the way. Right now, I am enjoying my little girl transitioning from baby to toddler. I love that she is learning her independence and cries on my shoulder. We reside in Maryland outside of Washington, DC. I am not sure if I am ready to return to the Chicago area. It gets really cold in the winter there. I think I was made to live on a beach. If anyone knows of any business opportunities in the sunny states, send them my way. God is good! I am heavily involved with my church (Woodstream Church). I am Co-Director of the Judah Interpretive Dance Ministry at my church. Can you believe I am dancing for the Lord! lol! Anyway, I posted a current picture of myself. I don't care to post any pictures from high school. If anyone has any photos of me from high school, please burn them. It has been a long time since high school, so please do not get offended if I don't remember you. Charge it to my head and not my heart. Please write becuase I would love to hear from any old friends. School My elemetry education started at Bethel Lutheran School (Kindergarten to the third grade) and finished at Nathan R. Goldblatt (fourth grade to the eighth grade). There's not much to say about high school. I started my high school career at Westinghouse, transferred to Collins for my sophomore year, attended the US House of Representatives Page School in DC for one semester of my junior year and returned to Collins to graduate for my senior year. High school was ok. I may be the one person that does not want to relive my high school days. I got a lot of bumps and bruises. The following list is a couple of lessons I learned in high school: Lesson #1 - everyone is not your friend. Lesson #2 - don't date a guy at your school unless he is the biggest nerd and no one wants him. Lesson #3 - don't run for class president unless you really want it. Lesson #4 - if your parents don't like your boyfriend, you should listen. Lesson #5 - for swim class, wear a high quality swimsuit. Who knows when one of those straps will fall off? Lesson #6 - your virginity is not a bad thing. Lesson #7 - to be a skinny teenager is not a bad thing. You are a late bloomer. You will thank God for it in your twenties and thirties. Lesson #8 - For prom, don't get your dress made if you don't know fashion. Go to a nice store and buy one. It will save you a lot of time and money. Lesson #9 - focus on getting into college. Lesson #10 - don't take it personal; it's only high school. College I got my M.B.A. from Troy University and my B.B.A. from Howard University. THANK GOD!! My freshman year, I lived in Bethune Hall. My high school sweetheart lived in Drew Hall. Freshman year wasn't that exciting. I was adapting to my new surroundings. I didn't party much. ...Expand for more
During my sophomore year, I joined a business fraternity, the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, Iota Rho Chapter. My fraternity days were the best and worst times of my college experience, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. (Well, I can trade the bad days.) That's life. I met a lot of good people at Howard (Mr. Gray, Ms. Black, Maisha, Marsha, Marvin, Sonya, Alex, Trudy, my fraternity brothers, my roommates, suitemates, accounting study partners and many more). Howard was a great experience. Not everyone gets the chance to attend such a dynamic school. I got a great education and learned how to shop (Georgetown Baby!). If you don't know fashion freshman year, you will know it by senior year. I did a lot of trips (St. Louis, Flint, Detroit, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Florida, Philly and Jamaica). Jamaica was the best (Montego Bay, Kingston, and Ochio Rios). As for the parties at Howard, I enjoyed the Ritz, Quigleys, Republic Gardens, DC Live, Kappa Cool Out and the Caribbean Student Association parties. One year, Biz Markie d-jayed for this block party in front of the School of Communications. That was memorable. My best homecoming was 1993. After all the partying, I found Jesus at HU. I joined the Wesley Foundation, which is a Methodist student organization on campus. Through Wesley, I accepted Christ as my Savior. I participated in bible studies, community work and a missionary trip to Jamaica. That missionary trip changed my life. That was my life at Howard University (sleeping, studying, pledging, praying, traveling and shopping). Undergrad was awesome! That's why it took so long. In 2005, I received my MBA. Graduate school doesn't compare to undergraduate school. It's all work and no play. But I can't complain. Anyway, I would love to hear from some old classmates. Workplace There is nothing to say here. I currently work for Grant Thornton as a Senior Consultant. I would love to ultimately work for myself, run my own business. I just don't know doing what. I feel like a jack of all trades and a master of none. Interests: The word of God, hanging out with my hubby and playing with my baby girl, dancing, traveling, movies, Sim City, Christian music, a chai tea latte and a great facial. A Childhood Memory I Will Never Forget: Jumping on some old mattresses in the vacant lot near my house. I was really into flipping. I must have been 9 or 10 years old, but we use to draw a crowd. Well, one day it was my turn to do a back flip. In front of the whole neighborhood, I did my backward flip and fell off those stinking mattresses. Everyone fell out laughing at me. It was quite embarrassing. Since then, I had a fear of back flips. During my freshman year at Howard, I took a gymnastics class. My teacher tried to help me get over my fear and relearn to do back flips, but I gave up.
