Charles's Story
Life
Hey everyone,
This is Charlie. I grew up on Long Island, went to Hills, Otsego and Candlewood. In the summer of 1974 we moved to Phoenix AZ and I went to Cortez High School graduating in 1977. I joined th Navy in 1977 and got out in 1980. I was in the printing business until 1989 and then became a stock broker. I worked in that industry until 2005. I was retired for 2 years+ but have now gone into business for myself.
I have opened a SnapFitness location in the Northwest Phoenix Area (Peoria) and am planning to open 2 more within the next 1 1/2 years.
I've been married/divorced twice and have a son from each ages 23 and 15. The 15 year old lives with me full time. I live in Peoria AZ a suburb in northwest Phoenix.
For you folks in NY, I still keep in close contact with Mark Iacono, Carl Bivona, Charlie Marino, Patty DeFrisco, Geri Unger(Now in FL).
For you folks in AZ, I see Steve and Donna Folmar(now in Texas) Peggy Herold, Jane Anderson, Greg Boyer, Mike Collins, Carrie Ingram(now in Washington State) Tim Bowden(now in Texas) Roy Waddell(now in MI) and Dale Curtis but not too many others unless I bump into th...Expand for more

Hey Shipmates,
I worked in the print shop onboard U.S.S. Ajax AR-6 from November 1977 until August 1980. I spent about 6 months in Deck 2nd Division as a side cleaner before striking for Lithographer and moving to R5 Division. I got out as LI3 and passed the test and was promoted to LI2 while in active reserves.
I left from Diego Garcia, I wanted to got to Australia with you guys, but they were going to make me extend for the rest of the cruise. For those of you who were on that God forsaken island, you understand why I went home when I did. I traveled with MR3 Hertenstein, we spent a few days in in Angelis City PI had a great time and then flew 20 hours to San Francisco and spent some time staying with some relitives of mine in Foster city before being processed out at Treasure Island.
I've spoken to Mike James from the Valve Shop and Scott Beer from wherever he used to work (I know he was a snipe but was a permenant mess cook before becoming a diver).
Life is good, drop me a note I'd love to catch up.
