Charles's Story
1966-1970 U.S. Army. Served in Germany, Ft. Polk, LA and on the DMZ in Korea(it was a hostile fire zone and we
got combat pay. I was wounded on an ambush patrol by friendly fire, July, 1969.
1970-1974 B.A. from Drake in history.
1974-1977 Taught and coached at Kanawha!! Really enjoyed it, but the money was not good and Suzanne had to
to work in Clarion.
1976 Jamie JoAnn born August 25.
1977-1981 Reenlisted in the army as a Military Policeman. Since I had a college degree I was accepted as
a criminal investigator.
1979 Lorrissa Sue Ann born on July 27
1980 My dad died at 55 in October from cancer. He fought it for 3 years!
1981-1982 MS from Drake.
1982-1997 Night security police supervisor at The Des Moines Air National Guard Base. We guarded the base
and mainly the 24 F-16's we had. Armed with 9mm Berretta pistol and M-16 rifle.

NG job and an 1l year stint in the army guard(had 9 years active duty).
1997-2004 Worked as a meals on wheels driver and a drug courier for Mercy Home Care and Hospice.
2005-2016 Received part of my dad's trust, IPERS, and army retirement pay and medical benefits .I have not
worked since 2004.
2016 My mom is 90 and still living at home. Carol is retired and married to a long time Ankeny Honors
history teacher and head coach of the football team's defense. Great Guy.
2016 My much younger brothers are Robert, who is a professional taxidermist. Andy who retired from
teaching at Roland-Story and East High in Des Moines. He has a part time job now at DMACC. I
have been married three times. I have four grandchildren, 2 boys and 2 girls.
This seemed the best way to cut down on length..................................If you want to know more just ask, I have no secrets!!!
