Charles's Story
Looks like there are multiple pages on the site with my profile. Update here: As of June 2013 I am principal of Kirmuss & Associates in Denver. I manufacture gps and two way radio equipment for first responders. This works well with my volunteering as Director for my County's Search and Rescue team. Hands on experience. Facinated with Asia as I have a technical office in Shenzhen China, I am also speaker at the bi annual Global Sources Electronics show in Hong Kong introducing new worldwide buyers to China. I travel overseas 4 - 8 times a year. Up to this past spring my son Philip was our senior engineer, he now works for one of my OEM radio customers. He was in Afghanistan now 4 times over the last 3 years, last visit 2 months ago, with our gps product, ..,.,.,trying to get that government order! Small one just came in...one of many we all hope... As to past times: My 1965 Corvair convertible keeps me busy during summer attending various shows, it was once owned by actor Omar Sharif back in the 70's...a California car that ended up in Denver when it was sold at a fund raiser in Napa Valley by the Napa Valley Vintage Car Club President who runs a PTS group...Expand for more
for veterans. An award winning car, a daily driver in summer. Also I have reintroduced myself to amateur radio after an absence of 31 years as a courtesy to one of my OEM clients that I manufacture GPS my product for. Only HF (shortwave) long distance contacts though. No rubber ducking... I also volunteer and support the Radio Club of America's youth program, nerds like us (me) are the future! I have been blessed to lead an active healthy life, and have traveled most of the continents for business and have made many close friendships worldwide. My fingerprints are still on operating spacecraft (TDRSS) and on the remaining Space Shuttles, all now museum pieces... craft that I helped test and assemble while at a brief stint in the late 70's at Spar Aerospace in Ste Anne de Bellevue. Heaven forbid any aliens picking up a TDRSS and cloining! Well, I think things turned out well after all. Looking forward to the 40th reunion in Montreal... Hopefully it will not be in March-April-May and September-October as I travel overseas yearly at that time.
