Charles's Story
OK I lied. I actually went to Interlaken High School and graduated in 1963. I played defensive end on Interlaken's football and our arch rivals were Romulus. We played against Ovid many times and many of my friends are from Ovid. As a matter of fact my first full time summer job was at Kenyon's Florist. Larry and I faced each other many times and had many a laugh together off the field. I liked dating and going to the Youth Center in Willard. Chuck Frost, Jimmy Ostema, Karl Messmer, Dale Ellis, Jack Tillinghast, Larry Westervelt (Now my Brother in law) were my buddies and we used to hang out at Sheldrake Point on Cayuga Lake a lot where my parents owned a home. I actually liked the Ovid girls better than Interlaken girls especially Sharon Palmer, Joan Clark, and Karen Baker. They just seemed to be more down to earth an...Expand for more
d level headed. I last dated Sharon and wrote to her and Joan while I was on my first assignment in the Navy (Adak Alaska) but lost track of them after that. I see that Karen is now in Peoria, ILL but have no idea about Sharon or Joan. It seems like yesterday and some of my fondest memories are of those years, Sheldrake Point, and the Willard Youth Center. How time flies when you are having fun.
I now am happily married to my wife of 39 years, Teresa, and we have 3 children (2 boys and 1 girl) all grown. I also have 2 children from my first marriage (1 boy and 1 girl) and I have a total of 10 grandsons and 1 Beautiful Granddaughter. Bridgeville has a sign on the town limits that says "If you lived here you would be home now". It is a small town much like Interlaken and Ovid so if you come this way stop in and say hi.
