Cheryl-Ann's Story
Life
After high school, I ran off with the UPS guy (we had been secretly dating during my last 2 years of high school because he was significantly older then me) and we spent a year and a half trekking through South America where we immersed ourselves in the native culture. I learned to make and enjoy potent drinks from the meha plants. We finally got tired of living in huts ;-)and settled down to raise 7 children on our productive goat farm, selling the milk and cheese locally.
Ok, I was just kidding in the above paragraph, but it sure sounded interesting for a bit, didn't it? Where have the years gone? It's hard to believe that I have now been married over 40 years. I have a fantastic husband, 2 wonderful children, 1 beautiful granddaughter and 2 handsome grandsons. Our son is 37 and our daughter is 36. My son's job causes me lots of worry, but he loves what he does. My daughter has been through a lot in life, including a stroke at the age of 33. But she is such a fighter. We enjoy going out to dance and she helps teach some of my line dance classes.
We left Radcliff with the military and have since lived in Ft. Stewart, Ga., Ft. Hood, Tx., and spent 11 years in Germany. We presently reside in sw Oklahoma where I am employed at a local university (although my co-workers and family kid me about leaving there and opening a...Expand for more
farmer's market to sell my gardening successes).
Since moving to this area I have become involved in country western dancing(No, NOT square dancing....too young for that!!). I competed on 2 national dance circuits for a very short time-knee surgery took me out of that. :-( My dance partner and I were the 2001 Fun Country Honky Tonk Champions. Yeehaw! *lol* I am quite addicted to dancing with the 2 step, cha cha, and east coast swing being my current favorites. I attend 4 or 5 dance events during the year to take workshops from some of the best C/W dancers in the country. I am also trying to learn some merengue, salsa, foxtrot, and a little more hustle. I have become quite proficient at boring people to tears talking "dance," so be careful getting me started on that subject.
I rarely get back to Kentucky and miss those I kept in semi-contact with. Sooooooo-if you would like to drop me a line, feel free to do so.
Workplace
I have taught dancing at a senior center and the YMCA.. Presently I co-teach dance classes as part of the Adult Development Program at the technology center and both couples and line dance classes at the university. I also host a special line dance evening each month trying to get people to realize how good any form of dancing can be for them. Life is good when I can share my addiction with others! *lol*
