Cheryl's Story

Life I LOVE TO TRAVEL!! My love of travel, which began as a 7 year old child, continues to grow. My father was in the US Air Force & was stationed in London, England from 1954 - 1959, where I attended grades 2-6. We lived near London & I attended the American school on West Drayton Air Force Base - called Bushey Park Elementary. It was while in England, that I began my musical training & lifelong love of music. In 1958, my family & I traveled with friends to the Brussels World's Fair in Belguim. We also traveled to France & Holland. Since that time, I cannot get enough of "visiting" God's beautiful world & her people! I taught at Castleberry Elem. for 5 years until I had to retire because of vocal problems. Those were precious yrs! For 15+ years I was an Executive Secretary. I am currently working at Greenwood Funeral Home as a contract vocalist. I truly love this ministry, & consider it an honor & privilege to offer comfort to these families. In 1995, I served in Kenya, Africa as a volunteer missionary (June - July) with the Southern Bapt. Assoc. God truly blessed me! Such precious people. I have been blessed with two precious daughters, Kristi and Kim, & a step-son, Elisha. Also, I am a very proud "Grandma Cheryl" to my three grdchildren: Anthony-13, Faith-9 and Christian-7 (Kim's children). While at CHS, I was so happy to be a part of the music program - a cappella choir & the double sextet (Trebletones and Gleeman) & to work with my mentor & friend, Mr. Charles Duke. I am still privileged today to work alongside him at Greenwood Funeral Home, & to attend First Christian Church where he is our Min. of Music. There are several of his former students that are once again members of his choir - & for that we are truly blessed. My husband, Tom Boozer (a '62 CHS grad) & I, are living in Benbrook, TX with Elisha - where he is attending Univ. of Texas at Arlington - majoring in Physics - whew! ristmas, 2003. He just turned 1 yr. old this October, 2004. Since he's "exactely right" - we named him: 'Zach Lee Right' & call him "Zach". He is definitely one of the loves of my life. :) My husband Tom surprised me with a Christmas/Birthday/Wedd. Anniv. present this Christmas 2004 - a two week trip to Nova Scotia. We had traveled to Maine & Nova Scotia in 2000 & fell in love with the little fishing villages & lighthouses - especially Lunenburg, Nova Scotia on the South Shore. (By the way, my birthday is on Christmas Day, we were married on Christmas Day - 1991 & then there is "Christmas Day"!) What a glorious vacation we had - our 13th wedding anniversary & my 57th birthday! We rented a Dodge Durango & returned to many of our favorite "spots" - plus added many new locations. We love staying in B&B's & small inns - we met so many wonderful Canadians. One day we may get to retire in Lunenburg - it's my kind of town. You feel as if you have walked back in time - to a quieter, more relaxed way of living. I have never walked so much in my life -up & down hills (the town reminds me of the hills of San Francisco - another town that I love). We truly love the ocean - & my collection of driftwood & seashells is GROWING by leaps & bounds! The salt air makes us both feel so much better. And while we were there from Dec. 25 - Jan 8 the snow was sometimes to our knees! Loved it! I confess, I'm still a child at heart & always will be no matter what my age - & Nova Scotia brings out the child in me. Visiting & staying at lighthouses is also a shared love that Tom & I possess....the Lord has been so good to me & mine....I have many precious memories of my childhood/high school/college years - with so many of you. I am truly blessed to have known you and pray that one day our paths will once again cross. This Christmas I was so happy to see Sam Dick, Jim Atwood, Thom Ruffin, and Carolyn Fain at a Christmas party - we had fun reliving old CHS memories. God Bless You
