Cheryl's Story
My husband Nat and I had three children, a daughter and two sons.
Cathy was born in 1963, Nat Jr. in 1965 and Brett in 1975. Brett was the only one born in Alaska, the first two in Kalispell.
Bachelor's Degree University of Montana, 1967
Master's Degree University of Alaska Fairbanks 1980
We taught school 1967 thru 1970 in Didsbury, Alberta, Canada, then from 1970 thru 1982 in Cordova, Alaska, and from 1982 thru 1985 in Manokotak, Alaska, and from 1985 thru 1989 in Point Hope, Alaska. Look these up on a map!
Retired in 1989 in Fairbanks, Alaska
Moved to Delta Junction, Alaska in 1993, where I currently live.
But throughout our lives there has always been hunting, fishing, snow machines, four wheelers, RVs, boats and constant travel.... I have even been out on the ice with Eskimos hunting Bowhead whales! Always pursuing new experiences... Isn't that what life is about?
Our retirement has kept us busy with travel and other...Expand for more
occupations. But we do whatever we want to do, and don't worry about everything else!
We spent September and October 2008 in Switzerland and Italy, had a great time and learned a lot!
Have just gone through a couple of weeks of 40 and 50 below zero (January, 2009) and lower, and have been very bored. Thus I have joined Classmates just to be doing something.
Times are changing! It is March and temperatures are moderating! Daylight is increasing, and optimism is generally on the rise in Alaska!
So what do I do? Head south, and spend a couple of months in Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon! As it turned out, we left spring behind in Alaska! Everywhere but the Oregon coast had a continuation of winter, while it was warm and sunny in Delta!
This summer (2009) we had four visitors (family) from Switzerland spend 2 weeks with us, and now we are in Denver, having delivered our oldest grandson to his college. End of July, 2009
