Cheryl's Story
Life doesn't always turn out the way we expect it to... but, it does go on, and sometimes what we least expect is what brings us the most happiness.
After graduating from OCH, I spent a year at UW-Whitewater... Not very productive academically speaking, but I did end up with a beautiful baby girl when that year was over.
I spent the next 6 years at various jobs with low pay and little room for advancement before I was laid off. I then went to Tech school and got a degree in computer support. From there, I spent almost 10 years at the Kohler Company in the IT department. I won't say I loved every minute of it, but I did enjoy most days.
Eventually, I started to feel like there had to be more to life. So, I quit my job to be in school full time. I will be graduating in December with a degree in Elementary Education.
On to the happiness... My daughter, Ashley, is the light of my life. I am so proud of her accomplishments, it is beyond words. Ash graduated from Sheboygan South in 2007 and attende...Expand for more
d 1 semester at UWM before realizing that the class size and impersonal nature of the school wasn't for her. She will be transferring to Oshkosh in the Fall of 2008.
Ashley speaks fluent German and spent a semester abroad. We also hosted an exchange student, Anna, who I will always consider to be my 2nd daughter. We all had a great experience in the exchange program and would highly recommend it!
I also have a fiancee, Patrick. We have been together for about 6 years... We originally met at work, but a mutual friend set us up, and the rest, as they say, is "history." Wedding plans are on hold as I finish my education... and pay for it!
In addition to classes and homework and family, I keep myself busy by being active in the Sheboygan Jaycees. If you want to see what Sheboygan is all about, stop by the first weekend of August and check out Brat Days - our chapter's largest project - a dedication to the almighty bratwurst...and beer and music, too!
OK, I've bored you enough! Thanks for reading!
