Cheryl's Story

Life Hi! Here's an update... LIFE: I always knew I wanted to live in a city with lots of interesting things to do, so after graduation I moved to the Ann Arbor area, loved it, and have been here ever since! LOVE: after dating a billion guys I found one that was just right, Bob Morris. We were married on 9/6/96 at Old St. Patrick's Church. Bob enjoys vacations & traveling, U-M football weekends with his friends (season tickets!), and fun with the family. KIDS: we had our first, Lauren Elizabeth Marie on Sweetest Day, 10/17/98, and she IS sweet. She loves swimming, friends, Girl Scouts (I'm the leader...and instigator!), nature, science, Nintendo DS, vacations, and getting her picture in the newspapers/web. Robby was born on 8/8/02 and is built like a U-M football player! Heading to kindergarten this fall, he loves swimming, sports, friends, bikes/4-wheelers/etc., and boy stuff. In the A2 area, it's very desirable to be able to be a stay at home mom (high home prices!), so I do contracting and teach classes part-time so we can go to the lake & waterparks, Greenfield Village, science & kids museums and all the fun stuff! FAMILY: My mom passed away June 1985 after finding out late in the game that she had ovarian cancer. Dad's still living at the Taylor house, works at Ford, and just bought an additional 120 acres in the U.P. next to all our families' properties. He's having fun with my brothers Bill, Tim & Tom developing the property, clearing trees and building roads and clearings for the cottages he's building for himself, me & my brothers. It's beautiful up there! My bro...Expand for more
ther Bill lives in a country nearby and we visit often with the kids to ride horses, tractors, hayrides, 4-wheelers & minibikes. WORK: I changed from being an Exec Assistant and learned the intricate workings of many software programs to become a Developer/Analyst building customized software components and links for about 10 years. Then the layoffs began all over, and I decided to "retire", work part-time and have our 2nd child. I was a licensed Realtor Assistant doing professional photography, database and website management for 4 years. Now I do contracts, and teach sewing, reupholstery, and quilting: basics to advanced to art quilt techniques. I'm also beginning to be a freelance writer/photographer for newspapers, web & magazines. HOBBIES: I enjoy making art quilts, quilts for family and friends. I've achieved the "Master Quilter" designation and have won many ribbons and even shown my work at a national exhibit. I love kayaking, woodland walks, and nature. Traveling and vacations are lots of fun (Mackinac Island, U.P., Charleston, Florida & Jamaica are our favorites!). I'm a fanatic gardener and have 1500 sq.ft. of gardens, using my favorite styles from Charleston and English Gardens. One day I'll get my Master Gardener designation! FAVORITE SAYING: "It's no fun being flat!" Take an extra few minutes when driving or playing to be safe...if you get in an accident you or your stuff could get hurt, and it's a waste. LIFE LESSONS: Always try to have fun in life and enjoy your family and friends (helps offset the bad stuff). Life will change on you, but adventures await!
