Chris's Story
Life
After High School I worked at the swimming pool for the summer and then on to the U of MN in Minneapolis to major in mathematics, then biology, then chemistry, then statistics, then zoology, then German and then, after two years of changing majors, I enlisted for three years in the Army.
I went through Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood in MO, then advanced training at Fort Devens, outside of Boston, to be trained as a Code Breaker and a German Linguist. I spent a little over a year at Fort Carson, CO as an Electronic Warfare Specialist and then a year in Augsburg, Germany breaking codes. I traveled as much as I could in western Europe during that year.
I was honorably discharged from the service on June 16th, 1978 and went back to the U of MN to major in international business and German, then changed to philosophy, then nursing. I worked during college as a lifeguard at the Womens Pool at the U. I gradutated in 1980 with a degree in Philosophy and again in 1982 with a degree in Nursing.
I moved to Rochester to work at Rochester Methodist Hospital as a Float Nurse. After three years working at Methodist Hospital,I went back to school at the Mayo Clinic's Nurse Anesthesia Program and have been a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist since graduating in 1987. In 1993, I completed a Masters Degree in Nurse Anesthesia and in 1997 I became the Assistant Program Director of the Mayo Clinic Nurse Anesthesia Program (and I love it!). In 2010 I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Doctor of N...Expand for more
ursing Practice degree.
In 1983 I married Jo Anne Judge, one of my nursing school classmates (who I met over a cadaver in Anatomy class)(also, her sister married Rick Keane, so now he's my brother-in-law!!). We love going to the theater, the opera, traveling and familly activies. We lived in Rochester (under the Libby's corncob watertower)for 10 years, then built a house 4 miles west of Pine Island. We have one child who is soon to finish college.
We have been active in youth activites, church activites, historical activities and Scout activities. There is always something going on.
I do like to hear from old friends. You can e-mail to me through this website, or write: DIETZ, PINE ISLAND, MN and it will get to me.
Thanks for reading this. I hope to hear from you and see you at the class reunions.

I graduated with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Minnesota State Universtity, Mankato. Yeah! Done with school!!! (maybe...)
I retired from the Mayo Clinic to be available to help with some family health issues at the end of November, 2014. I am now working "supplemental" at the Mayo Clinic on days I want to work. Having to freedom to choose when and to choose work that I truly enjoy has been fantastic!
