Life After High School I worked at the swimming pool for the summer and then on to the U of MN in Minneapolis to major in mathematics, then biology, then chemistry, then statistics, then zoology, then German and then, after two years of changing majors, I enlisted for three years in the Army. I went through Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood in MO, then advanced training at Fort Devens, outside of Boston, to be trained as a Code Breaker and a German Linguist. I spent a little over a year at Fort Carson, CO as an Electronic Warfare Specialist and then a year in Augsburg, Germany breaking codes. I traveled as much as I could in western Europe during that year. I was honorably discharged from the service on June 16th, 1978 and went back to the U of MN to major in international business and German, then changed to philosophy, then nursing. I worked during college as a lifeguard at the Womens Pool at the U. I gradutated in 1980 with a degree in Philosophy and again in 1982 with a degree in Nursing. I moved to Rochester to work at Rochester Methodist Hospital as a Float Nurse. After three years working at Methodist Hospital,I went back to school at the Mayo Clinic's Nurse Anesthesia Program and have been a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist since graduating in 1987. In 1993, I completed a Masters Degree in Nurse Anesthesia and in 1997 I became the Assistant Program Director of the Mayo Clinic Nurse Anesthesia Program (and I love it!).
