Swimming was my thing and I was already driving to Temple daily for practice. In my head it just made sense to go to school there so I could participate with a real team. (Did Midway ever build a swimming pool; do they have a swim team?) College After graduating from Temple Highschool in 1992 I attended Loyola University in New Orleans on an academic scholarship. Being in New Orleans after never having partied in highschool was a "wild" awakening. My academic scholarship went kerplunk since I caught the party buzz the first semester. I had to continue or drop out and was not able to receive a leave of absence. I spent the next two years bumming around New Orleans. In 1993 I became pregnant and moved closer to home - Austin. I had a son in 1994 and s moved back to Waco to attend school. I attended McLennan Commuity College - the Nursing Program. I finally excelled by being part of the Tartan Scholars Program there, receiving a full tuition ride.
