Christina's Story

Life Hello everyone! I just wanted to let you know all has been great since graduation. Nursing continues to be rewarding. I continue to work at SMH/RHC-ECF. I have been at RHC over 7 years now. Unfortunately, due to health problems, beyond my control, I have temporarily been reassigned to work the extended care facility; However, this has not been near as bad as I thought it might be. I celebrated my 13 year wedding anniversary this past March . We currently still have no children as we lost four October 2004 after having invitro. We have survived this journey in our lives. At this point I am not sure when or if we will try again for any more children. My health must come first at this time. We may look into adoption. The invitro was a trial both emotionally and physically. At this point though I am not sure what I want. My nephew turned four years old this past January. He is growing up so fast. He is the most precious baby. I hope my sister realizes how lucky she is. I have another nephew who is georgeous. He was born July 24 of this past year as well. Always smiling and another precious blessing/gift from God. We continue to work around our home and remain busy with our jobs. Doug is #1 on the promotional list. We are hoping soon a promotion may be available. My job remains about the same. I am considering furthering my education once again in the near future. We traveled some more last year. We explored the Eastern Carribean. We went to Nassau, St. Thomas, St. MArrtean. It was beautiful. Last few days of ride on ship was bumpy, up to 30 foot waves. Was nice to get away. Was going to snorkel at shipwreck cove and catamaran but got cancelled d/t bad weather . Great shows . great being pampered and spoiled. We went on a seven day cruise to the western carribean (Oct 21-28, 2006). It was wonderful 90-100 degree weather. Crystal clear water. Great shows, great people. We had a blast! Lots of Kauhla! I went rock climbing and snorkeling in Cozmel and had a mexican there compliment me on my ah natural boob job (haha).Apparently ,he thought I paid for them.Danced a mexican cha-cha in the streets with Miquel in Costa Maya. Went to the Wet Lizard in Belize and did some shopping in the Bahamas. No matter where we sat in the audience The entertainer's on the ship seemed to pick us out. It's great if you ever get the chance give it a try! I have ha...Expand for more
d approximately sixteen surgeries since October 28,2005 and have had fourteen hospital admissions besides that, not to mention many late night trips to the ER. After coming back from the Carribean in October I went septic in November and almost didn't make it out. Thanks to Doc George and surgical staff who pull me through all my surgeries time and time again I have made it through each and every one! I have the most wonderful doctor for my care for which I am so thankful. On this occassion however I had another member of his staff covering . I am thankful that he pulled me through a time in my life where I was very ill; however, will never let him lay another hand on me again. My faith and close family and friends, and trustworthy doctors have pulled me through. (wording changed as not to be taken wrong by att.) I would love to hear from any friends who would like to drop me a line. I am enjoying my life to the fullest, even though my health has been trying.I remain strong and continue to love to have fun;D Hope you all find yourselves well and where you hoped you would be. College In college I made alot of great friends. I partied quite a bit with the phi sig's (every weekend). I studied . I met my husband while doing the velcro fly.I had a blast. Wish high school had been as fun for me. Workplace I have been at Summersville Memorial Hospital at the Rural Health Clinic or Outpatient Center as some call it for almost five years now. I work with 4 doctors and a PA; all or whom are a hoot to work with. There is a nurse for each doctor but we all work basically with our own. I love my schedule. I work days and 4 days a week then off three(the weekend). Love it! It has been interesting to say the least! Before this, I worked at Corporate Health doing physicals, drug screenings, breath alcohol testing, phlebotomy, comp.injuries etc. I loved this job as well. I really learned alot with this job. I am certified to do breath alcohol testing using the Alko-sensor IV. I did pulmonary function testing, audiometry and am certified as an occupational hearing conservationist. Nursing is a hands on learning experience and very rewarding in alot of ways; Like any job it has its pitfalls. This year I became an honored member of the Who's Who Empire of Executive's and Professionals. I felt this to be an honor esp. since this has been a trying year for me with my health.
