Chris's Story
October, 2019: It's funny how we, in a moment of time, decide to go back and look at our past. My story? Hmmm, the long and short of it is that I graduated from BHS, got my BA in Special Education and Elementary Education, got married to Jack Garner in 1974, and moved to Hamilton Township, NJ where I taught Special Education for 12 years. I had two children, Christopher (1977) and Casey (1981), divorced (1985), moved to Point Pleasant NJ where I met my second husband, Bob, and remarried in 1990. Since then, the last 29 years have been spent like most of us, I presume; enjoying the good times, plodding through the challenges to come out to the other side for a new day!
I have retired from teaching after 26 years (with multiple stops in various jobs and two masters d...Expand for more
egrees along the way...) and have moved to Georgia where I live down the street from my daughter and her family in a very nice neighborhood with great neighbors and a wonderful community.
My daughter, Casey, was diagnosed with HMERF Muscular Dystrophy in 2016 and my husband and family have begun the Foundation for Casey's Cure, dedicated to raising money to fund research for treatments and a cure for her very rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. You can follow us on Facebook at Casey's Cure MD as we take on this massive challenge to keep muscular dystrophy from taking her life well before its time. We are determined to use the positive energy from love and dedication to finding a cure for her, so join us in the fight against Muscular Dystrophy! We can't do it without you!
