Christopher's Story

Well let's see... it's been an amazing life adventure from FWB to present and I owe it all to six people who were key figures in my life and helped me along the way... below is the Story of my Life... ...High School seems like such a blur... only memory of FWB, FL I have is leaving (in 1991) to head up to Northern Virginia via (visiting friends in) Mobile, Montgomery, and then Atlanta in my 1968 Mustang... then college then traded the Mustang in for a Porsche and off to University (Virginia Tech) and later stayed for grad school; I accepted a GTA at VT and got a part time Adjunct Faculty position teaching in the Math Dept of Radford University (that was fun - Radford is a great University!), later managed to get sought after GRA (full scholarship w/stipend to solely conduct research - didn't have to teach!) in the Dept of Aerospace Engineering doing research on Optimal Control Allocation for USN F-18 Hornet flight control systems, working summer internships for DARPA contractors; with Sophia arriving in Sept 1999, I left the VT Ph.D program with prelims passed and 18 months remaining (no regrets as I would not change a thing) to start a career in DoD (first DARPA, then ARL, USA NVESD, ONR, USMC, MDA, SAF/AQR and currently HQ AMC G5) and Dept of Energy... and now have four amazing little Blessings... I definitely cherish every day! Still keep in touch with only Darrin Palmer (owns four Taekwondo Schools - living a very successful bachelor's life in Niceville, FL - UPDATE! UPDATE! STOP THE PRESSES! HE'S NOW HITCHED AS OF JULY 05 2008!!! sorry ladies :0( ), Chris Schmidt (married w/1 son, living in NJ working as Program Manager for Verizon whose team develops these new tricky cell phone products we all see out there), and recently Ed Stanford (married with 3 children in Destin, FL, small business owner of Civil Engineering and Planning Firm with over 20 employees on staff, helping development and planning companies/clients primarily in Destin and NW Florida). HOWEVER, AM EXTREMELY CAREFUL to isolate my kids from the (fictional, of course) stories which old friends like to tell them... (e.g., "bouldering" ...whatever that means?..., and a shark head WHERE? ...not me!) Interesting the way life turns out. Sometimes I still look around and it is hilarious to connect the dots from FWB to the Pentagon and the politics of Washington, DC :D Life really is like a box of chocolates, eh? Some of the pictures show Sophia & Joseph dancing at a political fundraiser event which their dance group was hired to perform at. Shoot an email and remind me of those funny stories, crazy adventures, and good times from back in the day... my email is: cjp1701 "at" gmail.com (classmates won't let you use the "at" symbol in your story)... ***NEW*** (August, 2008) ...Expand for more
