Cindy's Story
I went to Emery from Grades 9-12; then White Oaks for Grade 13
WHERE TO START?
BACK THEN- I enjoyed art, phys. ed, track, being in the orchestra, academics and just hanging out with my friends. Looking back, we had lots of 'free' opportunities and a really well rounded education. Activity nights and school dances, watching football games. Staying in shape by walking over a mile to school (uphill both ways). Moved to Oakville during grade 13. These experiences certainly helped me to find grounding as a young insecure kid navigating through the teenage years.
IN THE MIDDLE: Went to Western, worked with kids for over 40 years (loved it), traveled, married, have two sons, (still in the trenches) which provided many opportunities to laugh, cry, learn, eat ‘humble pie’ and give thanks to my own parents. ...Expand for more
Lost my Dad to cancer in 1979 (big loss, good memories) I went back at 35 to teachers college. Taught with the school board for 22 years. Retired in June, 2019. Traveled to England and France, and Mexico last year before COVID 19 rocked our world.
NOW: I will be celebrating 38 years of marriage with my partner David at the end of April. I have two great sons and two lovely grandchildren. Dave and I live in Orillia and are enjoying the vibe of this small city on two lakes. I love to be creative, paint watercolours, take photos, go for walks, do meditation, learning to garden, connect with friends and family (safely) and spend time with the grandkids when we’re not in lock down. Looking forward to getting the ‘jab’ one of these days.
Life is good! Stay well everyone.
Cheers,
Cindy Jones Howell
