Clay's Story

Life My Job I'm responsible for supervising a team of four technical staff and 80 other associates to develop and present technical information to meet our customers needs at Toyota Motor Sales. (Update, now I"m working as a Product Engineer for the same company, still the best company in the world, still the most respected.) Toyota Motor Sales is the most admired and respected automotive company in the United States. My job is the best I could ever hope for, a mix of training people, supervising the work of others, and having access to state of the art technology. My job also provides some opportunities for travel, to work with companies that provides services for Toyota. One of my future goals (was to -achieved already) is to visit Toyota in Japan. Well I'm still in California, Yes I have three surfboards, but I don't surf. The sky is sometimes blue, but most days it is brown. Me and my 4 million neighbors always seem to go to the same place, so you wait for nearly everything. There are some beautiful places here, you have to travel to get to most of them. I can be laying on the beach on the same day I go to the mountains. We have all different cultures and food here, and there is never a shortage of things to do. I'm constantly being invited to attend fancy dinners and to events where you get to mingle and drink free drinks, but that's not me. I still live a mostly simple life. I do stay at the best places...Expand for more
when I travel. Million dollar homes abound everywhere and are no longer shocking. Paying $6 for a cup of coffee from starbucks still seems outrageous, but I still do that occasionally. It's not shocking to pay $6-25 a pound for some meats anymore. I'm not surprised to see a hundred dollar package of meat anymore. I've ordered meals that cost more than I spent in 6 months back in the midwest. Is it any better? Maybe. Is it worth the price? not really. It is cool to take a convertible down the california coast with the the top down and watch the waves come in. It's beautiful to watch the sunset over the ocean and then roast marshmallows over a campfire on the beach. I never thought I'd be the type of person to buy a new car, and then get a new one every year. Now with work I get a new one every couple of weeks. My last two cars I drove cost over $60k, not too shabby for a midwest farmer's son. I can see the hollywood sign from the back of my house. Thankfully it's not closer, if you have been here you know what I mean. I miss a lot of things about the midwest, and all the friends I had made through the years. I've visited there sometimes, and it's kind of funny to wait there at a stop light for several minutes with one or two cars coming by in that time. If you've never been in LA traffic you probably don't understand. Well I'd better go for now, love to hear from you, drop me a line at claymeyer at the hot mail
