Wayne's Story

Life I graduated from WHS in 1962. Went on to Missouri School of Mines, in Rolla. Dropped out after one year and joined the U.S. Army (like father, like son) in March 1964. Married in July 1966. Stayed in the Army for 8 years and 3 months (but who's counting) until June 1972. Sold real estate in Colorado, welded for a steel fabricator, and eventually went back to school on the G.I. bill. Earned a B.S. degree in Math/Computer Science at Arizona State University in 1977. Went to work for Texas Instruments in Houston. Stayed in Houston for 13 years, working for various companies (all computer related positions). Moved back to Phoenix in March 1990. Divorced in 1995 (after 28 years). Two children; Kim (05/68), Adam (10/70). Both married. One granddaughter, by my daughter (Sunny (03/99). Started doing computer-consulting work as an employee in 1988. Went out...Expand for more
on my own in 1995 and pretty much retired at the beginning of 2000. Remarried June 2003 to Mary after being together 8 yrs. Treated for cancer (Multiple Myeloma) at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Completed one stem cell transplant (Oct 2003 -using my own stem cells). Completed 2nd transplant (using a donor's stem cells) Feb 14, 2004. Back home in Phoenix still adjusting to my 'new normal' life. Currently 11 years post 2nd transplant and still kicking. Life has it's ups and downs. However, I have more good days than bad. Plus, I have out lived my prognosis. So, life is good. Mary and I divorced in March 2015. Goes to show you, the leading cause of divorce is marriage. March of 2018, Alix (my girlfriend) and I purchased a condo in Tucson, Arizona. Moved to Tucson in July 2018. Alix and I were married on March of 2019. We are both really enjoying our 70's.
