Coleen's Story
Life
After high school, I moved to L.A.
I have a beautiful Daughter and an awesome grandson.
I love diving and am a PADI certified Rescuse diver. I also love traveling, gardening and my rescue pittys!
I’ve worked in the film & television industry as a Local 80 grip since 1996. I was a rigger for most of those years, but decided that production would be easier on the body, but, really, all the work is very challanging. I do love what I do though, which is important when you’re stuck there for 12-16 hours! I’ve been lucky enough to work on some of the most successful shows and most importantly with some of the most hilarious and entertaining people I’ve ever met! I don’t think we would be able to survive out in the “real work world... you have to be a “special” kind of person to survive the entertainment industry!
🤪🤣
I was the Key Rigging Grip on Desperate Housewives, the Best Boy Rigging grip on the The Last Ship, The Best Boy on The Miguel music video, “I told you so”, One of my favs, loved him, he was very cool. While he was laying on top of a bunch ...Expand for more
of rocks for a shot I was trying to make him a little more comfortable by padding his back & head for him and he told me, “I’m glad you’re here, everyone needs a good momma, especially on set!” For the rest of the shoot, if a grip needed to be in close proximity, he told the DP, “I want my momma grip.... Then, to the grip standing there, Oh! No offense to you grip dude!”....
I was also the BB on a little feature last year called Gully that looked like it was going to be pretty awesome.
I’m 3rd generation, as both my Grandfather and Father were grips, so I guess it's in the blood!
I moved back to O.C. In 2000 and in spite of the horrible commute to & from work, there’s no place like home!
Workplace
I am currently “Day playing, wherever the money’s at!! I work with a lot of wonderful people. Even though the hours are long and the job is difficult.
Family
I have two recsue pittys that keep me company. One thinks he’s a cat and the other one a Chihuahua! My daughter and grandson just moved to HB a couple months ago. It’s nice to be able to visit often!
