Colene's Story
Life
Things are going good right now--just busy with school, friends--life in general!
I graduated in May Magna Cum Laude from Fontbonne University with a BA in Communication Studies (concentrations in journalism and PR) and a minor in graphic design. I'm going to Saint Louis University right now to pursue my Master's in Communication. I'm teaching graphic design and helping with a comm theory class in exchange for tuition, a paycheck, and health insurance, so it's a sweet deal! I'll be done with this in May '06. After that, who knows?! The only thing I know for sure is that I'll have to start paying off my student loans!:)
School
I changed a lot after I left for college--but all in good ways. I really came out of my shell, I guess, and "found myself"! It was good to move to the city and meet all kinds of people--it's what I always wanted to do. I'm grateful for my experience in high school--I wouldn't be who and where I am today without it.
College

ollege was the best time of my life. I met so many lifelong friends at Fontbonne. I can't count how many late night White Castle runs, long nights on the Landing, and talks I've participated in:) It was crazy, stressful, heartbreaking--but absolutely wonderful.
Workplace
Hopefully after grad school I'll be able to come back to this and talk about my "clutch" job in PR or advertising! For right now, I really like teaching graphic design and working with students--I just don't have the endurance to get my Ph.D to teach at the college level. Maybe one day:) I also have a gig through Fontbonne where I'm an off-campus resident assistant in an apartment complex where Taiwanese students live. I love working with them--I admire them so much.
Also--I'm looking for a paid summer internship. Good luck to me!:)
As for other jobs I've had: freelancer (graphics, writing, photography), checker at Schnucks, intern (Fontbonne PR office, Stone Hill Winery, the Booksource).
