Colleen's Story

I went to work in the GoJ Public Service right after leaving school; met my husband in 1988; got married in 1990; I have two sons who are now adults. I hold a BSc in Public Administration and MSc in Government (Public Sector Management) - UWI, Mona. My job focus, with knowledge gained, as well, from local and international professional courses, is on Results-Based Management (RBM) which primarily involves strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation and reporting (performance management). I have done a bit of travelling (Caribbean, Chile, USA) and looking forward to more before and after retirement. I recently spent my vacation in NY. I have been a converted child of the Most High God since July 2020 which helped me through the Covid-19 pandemic, as I lost my dearest and most real best friend (still hurts). For those classmates who met/knew my parents, such as Terry Robinson and Desmarie Senior, who...Expand for more
were stranded at my home in Bull Bay for the weekend during a storm/hurricane (lol) - I am now an orphan, as I have lost both my parents. I never knew pain until I lost my dad in 2010. This is when the grey hairs started chiming in. But pain is a part of life and life does go on, as it waits on no man, and you have to move along with it and make the best of it. This is what I am now doing...making the best of life, expressing gratitude everyday and embracing positivity. I still need to be consistent with physical activities to keep in shape and be healthy but I am now relying on and benefitting from having good genes! I however, have one regret that I can't change, as people are different. My circle of friends at Camperdown High was way too small, so as individuals we grow older and moved away without keeping in touch with each other. Life can get lonely, so remember your friends and stay in touch.
