Connie's Story

Went to college for a couple of years, but with working full time, it got to be too much. Dropped out with the intention of going back, and now it's been 34 years. May still go back some day! LOL Got into the advertising business at 18 and have been at it ever since. Opened up my own ad agency 23 years ago and the doors are still open, so must be doing something right. First marriage resulted in the birth of my oldest son Beau (Bixler), who passed away in a tragic accident in January of 2005 at the age of 23. My life was forever changed after that day. Losing a child is just something that only someone else who has lost a child can understand. I lost my brother and only sibiing Vince a few years earlier, leaving me an 'only child', and then I lost my Mom in April of 2007. I've lost a large number of family and friends throughout my life, so, it's certainly impacted who I am. Although he still lives on his own, I still spend a great deal of time taking care of my Dad now. My second, current, and last marriage has been going strong for 17 years and we've been together for 22. He's a great guy and we have two fabulous kids, both in High School now, so still doing the daily 'school / homework / PTA' bit. My oldest son left us a 'precious gift' in the way of a grandson. His son was born in September of 2005. He lives in the Chicago area with his terrific Mom Sandy, whom we adore and love as one of our own. Our Grandson was named for his Dad and will be 3 in September. Due to the distance, we don't get to see them nearly as much as we would like, but we both make trips back and fort...Expand for more
h and stay in contact as much as we can. A Grandmother! The words are even hard to say! LOL I could make up some glorious story about our lives, but right now, it's just work, work, work. I've been working 7 days a week for the last 9 months, which doesn't allow for a lot of play time. Fortunately, we were able to buy our 'Dream Home' in late 2004 and have turned it into an at-home vacation spot for ourselves with pool, spa, full gym, complete outdoor kitchen, and all that stuff. We've tried to make our outdoor area a 'vacation spot' since I work so much, and we haven't been able to travel like we used to for quite a while. Even with it, I seem to barely get time to use it lately. My husband (Bill Martin) was born and raised in Hawaii, so we still make trips there to visit with relatives and spend some 'down town' when we can. We had our honeymoon for two weeks in Tahitti, which is the most exoctic traveling I've done to date. We've done a fair amount of cruising and traveling, but I'm really looking forward to the day when we can spend a lot more time traveling. There are so many places I still want to see! Well, I think that's it in a 'nutshell' and true to form, I must get back to work. I'm grateful to still have contact with my best friend from HS, Nancy Patton, and another wonderful friend, Beverly Stuart (Rodigo) but, I'm looking for a few lost friends from my younger days that I've lost track of. My searches have been unsuccesful to date, so I thought I try this place for awhile and see if I have any better luck...Steve Marston & Greg Esparza...I'm looking for you! LOL
