Connie's Story

Back in 2008-2009, I was have honored to have work with one of the band member from THE BAND "CHICAGO", as their interior designer on their vacation home. He was one of the founders of the band and plays several of the woodwind instruments. It has been so exciting working with him and his wife (great people), especially since that was "my favorite band" in high school. In their living room area I have created a new fireplace front with built-ins for a TV and bookcases to each side of the mantel. On the other side of the room, I designed a custom display hutch for her Hummel figurine collection. Their custom Farm House style kitchen we did an interesting tile mural with subway glass tiles on the rest of the backsplash to complement. We also updated the laundry room off to the side of the kitchen. You'll have to check out the photos I posted in one of my albums. What a great opportunity that was! __________________________________________________________________________________ In school, if you were looking for me, you would most likely find me in one of the many art class, sewing or in a math classroom........ Those who will remember me best, should recall that I would design all of my own clothes, along with several unique jewelry pieces. I had even created and made a pair of shoes once that you would see me wearing around school. Almost every day I wore new outfit, that I had designed from the night before. When I can find the time, I will still design and make my own clothes. Looking back, I wanted to be a fashion designer and was even accepted to go to Chicago Art Institute. I ended up getting married instead. I soon found that I enjoyed redesigning my own home and decided to take my talents in a different direction with more of a challenge, that turned out to be interior design. ____________________________ After graduation, I had married my high school sweetheart, Dennis Gebeke in Nov. 1972. We were married for twenty five years and then divorced in 1997. We have two wonderful children that I'm so proud of; Josh who is almost 39 years old and Missy who is 35 years old. I also have three amazing grandchildren; Taylor 15 years, Elijah 15 years and Isaac who is 12 years old. I wouldn't trade any of them. I was married for a second time to a guy named Mark, which lasted short of 3 years. Oh well, such is life. *** UPDATE: Well I decided to try this marriage thing one more time. he charm and I think so. I was married back in Sept 2008 to the love of my life this time. He is 6'-1" and his name is Jerry and is a year older than I. I finally know what true love is. We met on E Harmony and having the time of my life! *** ______________________________ Back in the 1980's I decided to go back to college as soon as my children were starting up in elementary school. I soon had received my professional interior design degree and now have been an entrepreneur for over 25 years now. My business and showroom is called Wyland Interior Design Center, in Poulsbo, WA just outside the Seattle area. I currently specialize in Kitchen and Bath Design (see photos). I dedicate my time to the whole project; from cabinet layout, lighting design, product and color selection, intricate tile designs, product sales and then project management. I also work on full custom homes and remodels, as well as commercial projects still. I'm currently designing a restaurant in Port Orchard. Check out my website online. In the past, I had specialized in commercial interior design projects. I had designed the Coeur d' Alene Discount Movie Theater (see photos), Opportunity Auto Body Shop, several restaurants and lounges, bowling alley, pet store, clothing stores, doctor and dental offices, libraries and schools, many hotel and motels, beauty salons, etc. I'm still fortunate enough to be able to work on commercial projects from time to time. For about 7 years, I had opened a second side business, which was an offshoot of my interior design business, called Timeless Tufts. I was designing and manufacturing decorative pillows that I would sell from $125.00 to $ 450.00 each. I did well with them, but my heart wasn't in it. It took too much time away from my interior design projects. I decided to close the pillow business down a few years back. In terms of interior designing, I can honestly say that I truly love what I do. The best part and that is most rewarding to me, is seeing the transformation of each project. This is definitely what I was born to do. I never seem to get bored, since each client project is so different from one another. Hey, I have a business web site; you should check it out sometime. My favorite vacation was going to Cancun, Mexico. What a beautiful place! It was quite humbling and pretty sad to see how most of Mexican people live in their day to day lives. Hey, I would enjoy hearing from some of you.
