Corey's Story

Life As they say the only constant in life is change. After several years in the private sector working in the IT industry, I accepted a position with the Fed Gov for a couple years. I was lucky enough to be stationed at a very beautiful location, where every morning I would wake up and look across the water at the Victoria waterfront. I met some fantastic people and had the opportunity to learn and grow on a number of levels while working under appointment there. I finished the assignment and resigned my federal appointment with a feeling of completion and accepted a consulting position in Puget Sound, where we built out a new communications hub in Seattle and point of presence in Portland; with an additional 24 remote add/drop locations throughout Oregon and Washington. When that design and construction was completed I stayed on managing the day to day operations for the regional network elements. I remarried in June 2006, to my best friend Alya. After much discussion we decided on giving things a go in her home country. So we have acquired a beautiful home in Forest Hill, Lewisham Burrough, in London, and I relocated there as of January 2007. I do some consulting now and then for a firm out of Paris, along with writing on a title I was asked to put together. In my spare time I try to keep the garden up. Along with all of that, I try to take some time to learn ho...Expand for more
w to relax, an art form I had forgotten. It has been a diverse journey so far and strangely enough I look forward to what else it has to offer. College Over the years I ended up attending a number of different schools, starting off with Clackamas Community College while I was still hospitalized and during the year or two of re-constructive surgery after graduation, and then off to the U of O. Later on there was time at Forest Park, UM, and then various internal schools within the government. My declared major has had absolutely nothing to do with where I have ended up in my life, but to this day remains one of my prime areas of general interest. I was a Geography Major with area specialties covering both Central Europe and the Middle East, Remote Sensing and Data Interpretation, coupled with Urban Affairs and Planning. All of which has jack all to do with working with high energy devices as I had for the last several years, or the writing and design work I am trying to take a hand in as of late. Just goes to show you never can tell. In 2007 I started attending a series of courses at Westminster University, London, dealing with infrastructure issues with OSI Layer 4 Switching integration with a focus on network enhancement. After completion of that programme I later became involved with another programme with Glasgow Caledonia dealing with Transportation Infrastructure.
