Craig's Story

Life Graduated from the University of Texas earning a bachelor's in Radio-TV-Film and came out to Los Angeles in 1999. Worked for the E! channel for a few years until the production bug hit me and quit there and finally landed at USC's famed film school. I have taken that knowledge and started my own business renting gear to movies, commercials, music video's etc. It's called Berkeley Avenue Productions. It may sound somewhat familiar, because yes that is the name of the street I grew up on. You can see my website at berkeleyavenue dot com and contact me with the email on the website. You can also see some of the projects I've been involved with by going to imdb dot com and typing in my name. Take care and hope to hear from some of you. School I always tell the story of when I had fallen asleep in Mrs. Hill's Spanish class. She loved me. She took the class out of the room and took them to another room so that I could sleep in peace. EGG FEST!!!!! College I realized in 1994 that I no longer needed to learn about fixing appliances and began applying to colleges. I finally got accepted to the University of Texas at Arlington...on my Highschool transcript! It was like ACC except had a basketball team. Anyway I spent two amazingly wonderful fun years in Dallas. I studied Broadcast Journalism because I was hell bent on being an ESPN anchor. By the way, they raised their standards the semester I got in. I still would have gotten in with my ACC transcript. Anyway I wanted to go for a year and transfer to UT, but joined a fraternity, Sigma Nu and decided to stick around. Became Vice President the semester after I joined and had a great time, drank lots of beer, met lots of hot girls, blah blah. However I kept my GPA up, over 3.5 for the two years. Worked in the athletics office , wrote for the paper as well as worked nights at UPS loading 18-wheelers. If you ever sent a package to the Killeen area from 1996-1997, I apologize. Finally got accepted to the University of Texas. My one dream in life and I had accomplished it. The very next day after getting the news I moved back to Austin, got a job working in the UT a...Expand for more
thletic office the next day and spent the next year and a half making my dream come true. I graduated in December 1998 with a bachelors in Radio-TV-Film. Eden2000 in Dallas off Lover's Lane. Nothing like leaving the frat house at 2:30am, driving to Dallas and dancing till dawn. Then tearing Waffle House a new one. Workplace My first job after high school was at a place called MaxServe where we gave appliance info to Sears Tech's. If you ever had a service call from a Sears Tech from 1992-1993, I apologize. Moved on from there to an actual appliance dealer where I honed my skills learning the valued knowledge of fixing my own appliances. In 1995 I began my schooling and graduated in 1998. In January 1999, soon after arriving in Los Angeles, I got a temp job with E! Entertainment in their online division. For the next two years I took care of what E! sold online. After working on a friends film(train-wreck), I got the production bug and quit to begin doing what I had come to LA for. Movies. Of course when I quit was right before the strikes so it was relatively hard to find anything because everyone was trying to work before production stopped. It's hard to break in if you don't know anyone. Anyway I found a job at USC's film school. Yes Southern Cal. The home of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg etc. I started working in the equipment center handing out film equipment for student films. It's been a fun ride and I've learned so much and met so many wonderful people. They don't call USC the University of Spoiled Children for nothing however. I've taken my knowledge and abilities and created my own grip and lighting rental company named Berkeley Avenue Productions. I started it in 2001 and haven't looked back. I've grown tremendously over the last few years and with the relationships I've made with some outstanding up and coming filmmakers, I'll be even more successful in the future. While this company builds, I'm also working on realizing another dream. To write and direct my own films. I've done several commercials as I build my work and look forward to the day that I have directed my first feature film.
