Cricket's Story
In my younger days, I lived in the Santa Clarita Valley until 1980 when my father got a job in San Diego. I lived in San Diego for 24 years, since my sophomore year at Grossmont High. My life was at a standstill and I was offered the opportunity to begin a new chapter in a new place. In August 2004 I moved to Palms Springs, CA where I worked for KPSP TV, the CBS affiliate, as the Promotion Manager until 2011. Was laid off as tv stations merged, but was brought back in 2013 to become a Digital Manager for the stations that include ABC, CBS, FOX, CW and Telemundo. I've been in the television industry for over 30 years and my parents knew that television was in my future as I memorized every commercial on t.v. as a child. lasted less than two years and divorced, but many years later, through Facebook, found an old friend I went to college with, reconnected and then got married in 2015. Funny how things happen and that they happen for a reason!
I truly believe there was another reason why I was led to the Coachella Valley from San Diego. My parents lived here and it brought me closer to them. That was a blessing because I was able to spend more time and be nearer to my Dad as Melanoma was taking over his life. After his death, I vowed that I would create more awareness to the public about Melanoma Cancer. I have learned the valuable lesson that one should never take life for granted and that you have to make the most of it with what you have. Life is too short.
