Crystal's Story
Life
Hello everyone!! My how time does fly!! It does not seem like it is almost 10 years since we've graduated. Somebody's getting old. Well a sista is doing well and can't complain. I've had fun in life. I've change hairsyles from locs to fade to afro to twist and back to locs, I finished school at VCU and Howard (see college bio). I've been able to travel all over the country, France, and to S. Africa to study for two months. I pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at VCU. I got married on August 17,2004 in Chesapeake, VA in the park. My husband and I moved into our first home in April 2004 in Fredericksburg, VA. We celebrated our 3rd year of marriage on August 2005, and we had our first baby boy on September 1, 2005. He is gorgeous and I love being a mommy!
I was a school social worker in a DC non-public high school (see work bio) and I loved the work I did there. However, I'm currently staying home to raise my little man.
For fun, I enjoy reading, traveling, resting, and being around family. My taste in music I'm finding is old school/neo soul these days. I don't know what is up with the music these days, but I'm feeling like a senior citizen...
Peace!
College
After Indian River, I went to VCU to further my studies and concentrate on social work. College life was some of the be...Expand for more
st years of my life. While in school I pledged and served as Chaplain of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (1999), Inc, was a member of Americorp (completed over 1900 hours in community service), SGA, Black Student Alliance, and I served as a Resident Assistant for 2 1/2 years. Further, I met a circle of wonderful friends that are apart of my life today. I graduated in 2000 and continued my studies at Howard University. While in Howard, I was much more focused on my studies. During my time at Howard I was able to study in South Africa (a life transforming experience). I graduated with a 4.0 and finished a 2 year program in 1 1/2 years. I graduated in December 2001 and immediately went to work in the foster care system. I'm currently thinking of pursuing a masters degree in education (I think want to teach).
Workplace
After high school, I pursued my BSW at VCU. I went on to pursue my MSW from Howard University. Up until August 5, 2005, I was working as a school social worker in Washington, DC. I absolutely loved my job! I worked at a high school that services youth with special education needs. I provided individual and group therapy. Prior to that, I worked in the DC foster care system. Currently, I am a full-time stay-at-home mommy for about a year and then I will re-enter the working world.
