Curt's Story
Life
After graduation I got a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in creative writing at Arkansas Tech University, and then I got my MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Arkansas. I took some time off from academia and worked as a claims adjustor for Hartford Insurance in L.A., and I ran an auto parts store in Arkansas and the San Fernando Valley outside Los Angeles, and that is where I met my wife in 1988. We married, and we had a daughter in 1989 and again in 1991. We lived in the Mojave Desert outside L.A., where I taught college English at Antelope Valley College, Bakersfield College, and College of the Canyons until we moved to Arkansas in 2003.

my parents and down the road from my sister, and we now live on over 200 acres adjacent to the largest state park in Arkansas. Every morning, deer graze in our front yard, and bald eagles circle our house every winter.
I am now a professor of English at NorthWest Arkansas Community College, and in the summers I am a guide at War Eagle Cavern. It feels great to spend these hot Arkansas summers underground in the cool (58 degree) cave. I also build banjos in my free time, and I've built instruments for some nationally-known players.
In the late 90's I focused my writing on hypertext and published in the seminal New River magazine, but these days I am returning to traditional styles and am currently working on a book.
