Cynthia's Story

Life My husband Thomas and I married in 1983 and live in Myrtle Beach. Tink as he is called by his friends manages The Olive Garden Restaurant in North Myrtle Beach. He is a graduate of West Lincoln High School. Yes, I married a Rebel! I work as a substitute teacher in the primary grades. This has become a full time job since we have five schools in our town. I finished my Masters in Community Education from USC Columbia in 1991 after graduating from ASU. Thomas and I have 1 son Phillip who moved to New York for college.. He is very musical and artistic and plans to study history. Update on Phillip. He's decided to move back south and study here. New York was more expensive then he thought it would be. ants to change to art. We'll see. My hobbies are travel, (when Tink can leave the restaurant), genealogy (since I seem to be kin to everyone in Catawba County) and home remodeling. We bought an older house (in Myrtle Beach that's anything older than 40 years since the city has only been in exsistence about 65 years.) and have been working on it ever since. We'll never be finished and if we do, then I'm moving down the street to the retirement condos! They have all the fun. School The teachers who inspired me most were: Mrs. Blackburn and Miss Blaylock. Mrs. Blackburn's energy was amazing. She never gave up on a student. Miss Blaylock's saying "all the world's not Maiden." is very true and I've been known to use the same thing with my students. Mrs. Miller, also a good teacher. I've never given up my love of science and exploring.
